Guys
I have an N73 (thinking of upgrading to E65, but we'll see...) However, I know it has always been a bit crippled by RAM, and was always about as slow as my old 6680, but lately is it just dead slow and stop. opening menu takes and age, Tom Tom (legit copy) appears to be actually be 'reading' a map before giving directions or next steps, and forget about texting as the items come up after the key presses.
The camera is also even slower to start than it used to be. I'm wondering if it is simply decrepitude kicking in, or can I do something with it. I've tried constant reboots (not including those it does to itself) what else can I try, do I need to clear a memory cache or soemthing, and is there a possibility I can do a hard reset back to its factory settings - I would try to upgrade the firmware but am scared I'll trash the phone.
Any help much much appreciated here...
Thanks
M
What is the memory in use like? (Programs>Options>Memory Details>Phone Memory), is it stupidly high? Is the Free memory tiny? If yes, you should try turning the phone off, remove the battery, wait a few seconds, then replace the battery, power up, and check the memory again.
thanks for that, I tried that but it didn't seem to make any difference, and I upgraded my firmware (and the memory card backup didn't work, so I was a bit gutted) and it has made no difference...I see from other posts that others have the same problem, so I think I'll have to go to Tom Tom support, but they haven't been much help to me in the past, still, I can live in (possibly vain) hope...
I would update your firmware, then once that is done do a hard reset. I recon this will sort your problems. I've been running tomtom6 on my n73 for nearly a year with very few problems and it runs smoothly.
I have just got an E65 (N95 too big and ugly IMHO) and this runs tomtom6 even quicker and smoother than the N73.
A great phone IMO
hard reset is *#7370# BTW
