Message views, on my nokia n73 could change the view could either have,
Sender/ date time received
sender/ 1st line of the message
N95 seems to just have the 2nd option, is this right?

I think that you can only see this from "message details" on the menu, not as a permanent view for all messages.
You could try installing Nokia's Conversation prog. IMHO this is the best prog that Nokia have come up with for the N95.
This gives the message in scrolling form on one line and the date and time on the next line. Texts are grouped under Senders name and can contain a thumbnail photo.

It has caused issues with opening contacts on my N95 (long delays sometimes) - everything is running smoothly again since I uninstalled it.
Shame. It says it's been tested with N95, so perhaps it's not a very common issue.
As someone else suggested in another thread, exiting the contact list with the exit key instead of the hang-up button might also fix the issue (perhaps if it was due to Conversation gathering all the texts together in the background while also trying to open the contact). I didn't test this theory, as I didn't really use it much.
