A new, faster MapLoader, but more clients needed

Keeping a close eye on the goings on at Smart2Go (now Nokia Maps, to all intents and purposes), it seems that MapLoader 1.1 is now online and is allegedly ten times faster than the old version. But the Maps software itself is still showing only a tiny compatibility list. If you do chance a version on an 'unsupported' handset, do please report back, etc.

Read on in the full article.

I had no problems installing and running the maps app (the N70 version) on a E65 using a bluetooth GPS.

Maps is not available for the N95 because it will be added as part of the soon to be released v12 firmware. May be the same for other Nokia phones not listed.

Any packages that say they're for the N95 won't work - I tried :icon13:

I'm surprised that n70 (2nd ed) will run on the e65 (3rd ed), different screen
res etc...

I was able to get the new version for the N95 for the very short time it was posted earlier in the week...

The Nokia N73 Version called NOKIA_Maps_1_0_S60_30.SIS works fine on Nokia N80

I tried the N70 (2nd Ed) on my 6630. It complete installation, but deosn't work at all. Know why?

For me it went like this-

:icon4: (Before doing anything, update xp netframe for windows to 3.0,
Then proceed..)

1st. Downloaded ok onto HP laptop. 2nd. connected N93 with cable and chose "Mass storage" option on phone. 3rd. Maploader found (somehow) N93s 2 gig mmc as storage device and did the rest.

I couldnt tell if it worked faster or not. And Im using the smart2go beta version. Well, at least it didnt mess anything up! 😉

Ps. I had to update netframes for windows 3.0 (by maploader installers request). But Maploaders own installer froze during loading mode so I needed to reboot hp when netframe portion read "ready" while maploader was still frozen.

I hope this was useful 🙄
