Lets try to list the current bugs with the p800. For me I experianced a problem with the iCam. My friend was playing around with it and then the screen display was gone, instead there was a picture of the SonyEricsson logo. It would still take picture put you wouldn't know what you were framing untill you go to the picture folder and see it.
Only by turning the phone off and then back on did the problem go away, it never happened again though.
What do you guys have to add?
I forgot to mention the system crash, where I couldn't even turn the phone off. Instead I removed the battery and put it back again, it was fine after that...
The bugs I've found so far
Phone Applications
----------------------
1. Voice recorder - when recording for a long time (1 hour fx) the voice recorder won't playback - it will playback for about 10 sec. and then stop. The media player can play it back though. 😉
2. Voice recorder - if remaining free memory is LESS than the size of the Voice Recorder memo allready in the memory - you cant use the "send" command.
3. Sync application + mRouter - eats about min. 42 Mb when idle. Needs a clean up. There are many "applications" resident for sync and connection. The SW guys need to think "small" and efficient... Such an application should at the MOST take about 10-12MB - even though it is SyncML based. (se far below)
4. Sync application - have problems with mine using "Full Sync".
5. Sync application - e-mail sync makes sync softare go down. Have not found the cause - since sometimes it works.
6. After a Sony Ericsson recomended reinstall of ALL SE applications on the pc - the sync takes twice as long as before.
7. Mail applications - you get a alert notification for EACH mail recived... Should only get ONE alert if new mail has arived. (bug/feature.. 😉
8. Sync application - some calender entries with "repeats" makes the sync application stop - without completing - and without error messages. Full documentation sent to SE inc. example file. No response yet.
9. Sync application - e-mail in my Inbox that are moved to another "folder" are not removed from the SE inbox before a full sync is done. (Se point 4 - which makes this bug worse..)
Missing "features"
1. Voice recorder - can only use internal memory for recordings and not the duo stick. That limits the recording length very much (1 hour = about 6Mb)
2. PacketVideo can only use a 204x204 video window. A Wide-sceen tilt mode would be really nice - like 250x150 - or something like that.
3. A way to turn of alerts for mail etc. during sleeping hours (or set mail schedule with "off" times where is should NOT collect mail automatically.
4. Camera application should be able to save presets.
5. Camera application should support large screen rendering of a picture.
6. In "stick" mode using the Pen - the area where there are menu's and buttons should NOT be used for Pen input. You allways end up deleting something if the pen slips a little bit when trying to hit OK or some other "application" specific area - or move the cursor to another input field.
7. USB is not really USB - its is so slow and seems like it is only a high speed serial connection.
But all of the above does NOT change my attitude - this is the best darn phone i've ever had. But it leaves the options open for 3rd party software developers to make a decent sync package...

Memory usage during sync is different - dependent on how many items you need to transfer - the 2 main sync applications are named DXP*

are you working for SE or what??? 😃
if whenever the phone gets stuck press and hold the on button for 10 seconds and everything will restart you dont need to remove the battery
Well dude the problems sometimes does not get fixed by just doing that, the phone hang and you are not able to reset by pressing the button but they are left with the only way possible, that is by removing the battery and killing the power.

no! dont remove the battery! if you look at the picture carufully it says hold the off button for 10 secs!
My goodness can't you understand!!!! sometimes i get that screen but then holding the button does not work, it just hangs. so what do you do when it does not reset even when the screen says hold the button for 10 secs...huh tell me.....or do you continue to just press for eternity???? come on man can you try to read more carefully!!!!!

you have to keep on pressing for 10 secs or you dont know what does 10 secs mean? 😛
oh my god you are as stupid as hell....i get that screen sometimes and even though i hold for 10 secs it still does not reboot. DO YOU GET THAT IDIOT!!! even though it say HOLD for 10 SECS, it DOES NOT REBOOT. man i wonder how anything can pop up in your head. Even though you say hold and i DO HOLD, still does not work.
Got my phone 2 days and so far experienced these few problems
1) Can't sync with MS Outlook (running on XP Pro SP1 + Office XP Pro)
2) Had a "have to reboot" screen on my phone asking me to hold my off button for 10secs. Did that and it reboot.
3) I think the camera on the 7650 is much better than the P800. Was using 7650 before i changed to P800. Hope they will fix this problem.
4) I set a long midi as my SMS alert, but once i receive a SMS the alert will play the whole DAMN midi even though i have read the SMS and close/delete it. Weird ...
That is what i have to report for the moment. By the way, i think t
I newer got my internet to work
Using the fast modem, not GPRS
Tried several times including 3 different accounts + providers.
Doing like I should on SE home site and my provider ( autoconfig SMS)
2 times but no...
The phone are connecting at 19 or 28,8 to all the places i tried to, but I can only se the SE logo...
When trying to change to new site after about 40 sec it says wrong server or something...
The mail do not work, even if the little phone shows that I am connected.
Even tried to reset the whole phone ( If I did any wrong settings :-? )
Regarding the sync, the USB is so slow that I use IR instead. much faster.
I still love this little King :P
But I hope SE can fix this sooooon( if you dont have a tip) 😉

Tony, cool off. The guy's joking 😃
I have the same problem as well. Pressing 10 seconds doesn't help. The only way is to remove the battery.

OOPS
A couple more things i noticed with the P800.
1) It only vibrate once when receiving new e-mail, mms or sms. I don't think vibrating once is enough to get you noticed especially if it's on silent mode.
2) Why the hell do they have to put the speaker behind the phone? If u leave the phone in the bag (that it comes with) and leave it on the table facing up, the ring signal is soooo soft. But if you're holding it in your hand then it's loud.
Am i right or wrong?

Same thing happened to me too! Very annoying. :x Well, should be glad it didn't crash...
The button/icon for the virtual keyboard hanged, couldnt use the keyboard. Rest of the phone worked fine. Had to restart to get it normal again.
If you are using the blue tooth ear piece, when u first make the call the ear piece needs to be close to the phone in order to switch the call from the phone to the ear piece. Then after you get transfered you can move the phone further and continue talking??
I think this is strange!! :robot:
Bugs:
1. Had the camera one, blank screen, have to reboot to get it back. Lay good odds its a memory shortage.
2. Camera seems to lose sight of the SIM, has the message "Insert Sim" and the screen that looks just like the one asking for your pin. Have to reboot and it sees the SIM again, this is happening randomly while it is in its case up to 3 times a day.
3. Crash asking for reboot.
4. Had a crash that the 10 second trick didn't work for.
5. Cannot get POP/SMTP mail to work for love or money, no help from SE either, and I used their configurator to set them up. Will try freeserve, SE-UK said they have the least problems with it.
6. Some websites with JAVA or Frames won't work. Notably, hotmail.com and my web mail server (E2k)
My phone has R1B so I hope some of these are sorted in a subsequent version.
Tip: www.mail2web.com does work on the phone, if you choose the advanced login you can access ANY pop account if you know the server name. I use it to diag and fix pop problems all the time.
Request for any watching manufacturers, A hard/soft case, flip front (for use without the keypad which IMHO pointless), easy access to the jog dial. Givvus a call, I think I could design it for you (pass me my crayons)
Tip: Grow and shape your thumb nail 😊 works much better than a stylus.

WOW!!!! With this kind'a temper you should consider removing your signature with that bible quote????? :black:
I was trying to voice dial with a bluetooth headset and it was having trouble recognising what I was saying. On the third attemp Symbian core dumped to the screen, didn't even bother showing me the hold off for ten seconds, just left the dump there. Only option was to remove battery which was kind of difficult because I was driving at the time.
Still the best phone I've ever owned though and I wouldn't trade it for anything, although actually maybe I'd trade it for a bug free P800!!!

How often does this happen?
i was reading or better yet i was listening to a recording in a mms message when suddenly the phone rang so that caused the phone to hang(the 10 sec thing worked ok thank god),other thing that is missing you cant record someone during a conversation during a phone call!!!!!!
Can someone tell me, why do I always have to plug off and re plug in my USB cable to sync. Otherwise The software tells me, that an other application is using the port and can't connect. But I don't have a software running in background
there are about 10 programs running in the background, most of which if you look at your task manager are in capitals and chopped down to 8.3 format. Just kill them all and run the prog again.

My phone hangs: Pressing the button for 10 secs kills the phone, but when it is turned on again it doesn't get further than the first opening screen, then it hangs again! Help !!!
Looks like something in your P800 is corrupted. Have you tried a Master Reset?
