What Apps are running in the background?

7 replies · 3,431 views · Started 23 June 2007

Hey hey..
I've not been too worried about this but recently while turning on my phone I pressed and held the apps key - amusingly It began displaying the background apps as they were loading.😊

My question to the Symbian OS guru peeps is what is being loaded and do we need ALL of it? 😉

Is there a way of removing stuff that we might not have any requirement for? Or adding stuff that could be kinda useful.

Cheers much in advance seki😊

I'm not quite sure what you mean. hen you hold the apps button it displays the task manager which show which are are running, load loading as such. Somtimes, if you just press the red call button rather than properly ending the end it will still be running so you can retun to it quickly etc. Press 'c' to end them if you need to free up some memory. When you first turn the phone on, if you open the task manager it will just have 'standby'.

Restart your phone .. and as its powering up .. press and hold the Application Button .. as the phone continues to boot .. you'll get a list (slowly changing) of what apps are loading up in the background .. they dont show as icons but ordinary apps (jigsaw pieces) ..

Cheers

Have tried this. Doesn't appear any apps.list on my phone while restarting.

Use a software like Taskman and see what kind of processes are running on background.

I tried this and after a few goes I got it to work and it shows (in Jigsaw format) Autolock and Voice Command in the start up, but Taskman does not show these later on when the device is running??

I mean who uses stuff like voice command? I know I don't ..😊

Useing PhoNetInfo it shows 13 background tasks running. This is after killing all running tasks (except standby) with Handy TaskMan. All show as hidden (system and non-system). Some are essential!
