Hi guys,
I've been encoding some XViD's at 320x240 resolution especially for the N95 but the seem to play in perfect sync on my PC in Media Player 10 but always need about 0.3 secs preroll in smartmovie to get the audio in sync.
This also is required for playback in DivX player 0.88
So what's happening? It the N95 known for this or is it a symbian issue?
Cheers
Homer
I've had the same problem here, mainly trying to play video podcasts such as diggnation or tikibartv. I'm worried that the n95 just doesn't have enough memory/speed to play these sorts of videos well.

Which is the best feed for Diggnation on the N95??

I'm not sure about that. My N95 plays perfectly smooth with no sound glitches......just about 300-400ms behind:frown:
Its not a problem with the phone, its a known problem with the encoding of the avi/divx/xvid file. When its converting on your computer, things can go wrong that you wont notice until you playback the video.
I prefer to encode my vids in MP4 format. Its more stable, its smaller file size and its crisp clear.

How?
Any divx/xvid i put into the N95 plays out of sync regardless of who or how it's been encoded so i think it must be the N95.
I just use one of the imtoo ipod converters and use mp4 and they are all perfectly in sync and quality is stunning.
I can also just drop the ones i did for ipod onto n95 and they all play fine

I got my N95 just before the weekend and have been testing different encoders/settings to get the best quality and size.
For flawless conversion to mp4:
1. Download Super Encoder from the official site for free
h**p://w*w.erightsoft.com/S6Kg1.html#Down
2. Once installed use the following settings:
Output Container: MP4
Video Codec: H.264/AVC
Audio Codec: AAC
Video
Video Scale Size: 320x240
Aspect: 4:3
Frame/Sec: 25
Bitrate kbps: 336
Audio
Sampling Freq: 32000
Channels: 2
Bitrate kbps: 64
View Settings Here - h**p://bayimg.com/eADDPaABc
Ive converted around 50 files over the weekend and they've all turned out perfect. A 700MB xvid 01:32:08 came in at 268MB. Most TV eps come in around 90MB.
Hope this helps

Do the resulting files play in Realplayer?

Yep, they play fine through real media player in Video Centre. Just put the files in 'My Videos' (although I think this means you can't see them through the gallery).
this is awesome - worked perfectly for me .
thanks a lot ! 😊 😊

The majority of DIVX files I play on a DIVX compatible DVD player and most of those I convert into DVD format have audio sync problem.
I think it's partly down to poor encoding of DIVX files from dodgy sources.
The problem is even worse if you try to play (or transcode) NTSC video clips on UK/PAL players, and vice versa.
