SIP over 3G

Hi..

Should I be able to use the native SIP functionality ("Internet tel."😉 to connect to Gizmo or similar through a GSM/3G network? My phone's only giving me options to select wifi networks for this; did T-Mobile disable it, or does the phone just not do that?

Thanks!

Try this: ...\Settings\Connection\SIP settings\<your profile> => Options => Edit => Default access point => Set to any gprs/3g IAP. Exit and go to Applications => Internet tel. => You should now see you "gprs/3G IAP" => Select it and "Connect to service".

Don't know whether you'll be able to connect though. It seems as if my provider does not allow me to connect VOIP over their 3g network (..or if its N95 it self that doesn't "support" it. If so it's a bit strange since the option is there..).

As far as I know, 3G isn't supported.
I think the reason is that, while a strong 3G signal could probably handle it, anything less would fail and the natural reaction would be to blame the provider for the poor service. They are erring on the side of caution.

Superswede - thanks for that, but I'm not able to connect either.. Shame.

The point is international calling (and free voip-to-voip in general).. Fring is OK, and it does work over 3g networks, but I've found Fring/Skype generally has much worse call quality than Gizmo (for example) even on wifi.
