Why cant the symbian os implement virtual memory or Nokia implement it in its phones that don't have a lot of memory.
N95 Symbian OS Virtual Memory
because it would be very slow and hard to manage, these symbians have enough problems as it is and adding virtual memory might give them a new problem. if they wanted more ram on the phone then they would add it. personally think n95's 18mb free ram is enough for any app
for any ONE app, probably. but there are people who like to have more than one app active at a time, you know. i've only had the phone for a week, and i've already run into the out of memory-message several times.
Fostex is right.
This is the worst thing (oh, and the crappy GPS) on our Nokia N95.

Don't forget battery life!
If this was possible then we'd have no reason to buy the next phone they release that's just a little bit better (which no doubt will have more RAM). There's no reason why it shouldn't be possible to implement into Symbian OS, then again I guess battery consumption would go up hugely using the storage device as virtual RAM so it's near pointless anyway.
