OMFG, I love these.
"Are you sure you're really a camera?"
I am gonna send that link to my mate who obsessed with getting an iPhone.
pmpl these are sooooo good, just goes to show how cr@p the iphone is lol
I can't believe it doesn't do 3G or MMS and that the whole thing has to be sent away for a battery replacement! That's a joke!
Haha! I was hoping someone would start a iphone post i could bitch! Lol. The iphone does seem like the biggest rip-off of the century, and yet everyone seems to be in some kind of deluded trance, beliefing its cool. I admit the touch screen shizzle is cool. Wouldnt mind that. and it is exstremely fast interface wise. But other than that, its useless. Doesnt do anything. Can hardly be called the next generation smartphone! And that registration process? Whats all that about? You HAVE to have a computer and itunes account to use ur handset, and you cant play with it untill registratin is complete! Its rubbish! Its total sh.................
Those are fun videos, but they are really fanboys. I didn't get the ringtone one... the iphone doesn't let you use mp3s as ringtones?

It does, but I think was just a cheap (but funny) gag about apples gay logo and event sounds
I have purchased an 8GB iPhone.
Apple has sold 7,000,000 within one week.

before they all have to go back!
LOLZ - no user replaceable parts! logistical nightmare replacing them all.
7million in a week you say ? they giving them to the homeless now?

enjoy!😊

You mean 700,000.

More fool you 😮

The iPhone won't let you use MP3 files as ringtones. Just another way for AT&T and Apple to glean more money by forcing people to buy them separately. You can't even use a song bought from iTunes as a ringtone.
Funny. I Love my N95... I'm not an Apple fan, they tricked me with my iPod 30GB 4G!
imdaShiy wrote:The iPhone won't let you use MP3 files as ringtones. Just another way for AT&T and Apple to glean more money by forcing people to buy them separately. You can't even use a song bought from iTunes as a ringtone.
That's a dealbreaker for me. It's one of those features you're accustomed to but you miss it the moment you don't have it. I don't think I could go back to midi tones.

My god! Why would they do that, its like a standard feature now. My last 4 phones (thats going back to 2004) have supported mp3 ringtones!
Jesus the iphone sounds more and more crap the more I hear about it
Yeah, supposedly there might be a feature later on in iTunes where you can "make" a ringtone from an MP3 or song purchased off the store, but that will cost additionally (I think it was like $1 per song or something). Anyways, I was at the Apple Store here in San Francisco when the iPhone came out on its first day. Have to say even though my Nokia N95 cost me $700 (not subsidized by any US carrier, so bought on eBay), I would take it any day over the $500/$600 iPhone. Why?
- iPhone's only "cool" feature is its touchscreen, where you drag and drop, resize images, scroll, etc. with your finger; practicality-wise its very difficult to use w/o 2 hands or when walking/on a bus
- iPhone interface is way too simple, not for me; kinda like PC vs Mac, I would rather have the full functionalities and powerful applications available on N95
- 2 year contract w/ AT&T is going to cost ~$1500; although I have AT&T, my monthly family plan costs my line only $10
- No GPS, inferior camera
Those are probably the biggest points I have against the iPhone. Dunno if anybody here lives in the States and was there on opening day. You should've seen those Apple fanboys: they look like a bunch of clueless little kids, not knowing that the iPhone is just an over-hyped piece of crap... hahaha

You know, I actually suspect this is exactly what is written on Apple's target market dossier

😊 I agree! The consume ability of kids is unmeasurable.
Living here in Australia (and being removed from the hype so to speak) i sat watching the launch online, watching the thousands lining up and thinking whether even 5% even knew the specs, and the contract details of the phone........... or whether they just had to have it irrespective of it's downsides (no 3G, GPS etc etc.)
Look, i'm a tech nerd as much as the next geek, but i'm a little more circumspect when it comes to dropping massive coin on something that essentially is a turd wrapped in gold.
The 2nd gen iphone or 3rd gen? yeah sure then i will give it serious thought as apple would have ironed the security flaws, the bugs and everything else out of it.
But, as a 1st gen product compared to the N95 (which even though it's seen by many as a evolution of the original N series, i still think it has enough untried features to view it as 1st gen) it gets hammered. The only saving grace of the iphone is it's capacity over the N95, but only until sandisk develop an 8gig micro........ 😉
It shocks me that apple have released a phone this bad.
Ive nothing against Macs, but I dont like fanboys (and every brand has them) and the fanboys have been running rampent.
The iphone is by no means a smartphone, no matter what anyone says, the specs simply dont support it.
What someone fell back to, to try and defend the lack of features, is its meant for looks and to be...well, hip and cool.
Fair enough I think, horses for courses and all that. But the specs get it even in that category.
It doesnt have MMS, which even cool hip people like to use.
And it doesnt let you choose your own ringtone (apart from the defaults on the phone).
Thats not exactly something that should be missing from a phone aiming to be cool.
Course, Ive no doubt apple will sell out, but it just goes to show how foaming at the mouth some apple fans are.
If you like it, and youve got the money, fair enough. Money well spent if your happy with it.
My personal feelings is that apple did a massive rush, to leave out such simple things. As someone said, V2 or perhaps 3 might be something really worthwhile.
However, they would have to get rid of the inbuilt battery to tempt many people from other smartphones.
Great post bartmanekul. I keep two batteries for my N95 cos if I go away for a weekend or something, I want it to last. I could take the charger but its bulky and I do quite a few hiking weekends where there is simply no where to charge it!
The idea that a faulty or worn out battery requires you to be without a phone for days (or, more likely, weeks) is just crazy.
I also agree that even as a 'cool' designer type phone its let down by the ringtones and lack of MMS support.
Cheers. Have you ever looked at those windup chargers? Wind for 3 mins and you get 8 mins talktime (or less, perhaps depending on the phone). Handy if your stuck somewhere hiking, and something happens to the spare battery.
Its only available for the old style nokia phones (the larger round connector) but those adaptors are very cheap. Worth looking into if your out and about.
Back OT, I cant help but think when I see someone with an iphone - are you a bit poncy? Might go up to them and gush about the iphone 'oh thats so cool etc etc'.
And then offer to send them a pic via mms 😃
And then bluetooth when they say it cant do that (it cant send files via bluetooth either).
Im evil really.
Yeah, looks a bit amatuer, but they work. And you would also need this:
Im sure you could find cheaper, I just choose the top of the list for the sake of example.

Offer to make a video call ..
then to display this ability
Video phone your other mate with a 95 .. and toss it on the big screen so everyone can see the party/gig etc ..
now of course we can take this feed and plug it into our video encoder / capture card and toss it on the web live for the world to see. 😉 cheap vid-casting of live events.

The new iphone....do you still want one?
In January of this year Steve Jobs of Apple announced the launch of the iphone which would be 5, yes!, 5 years ahead of it's time.
"iPhone is a revolutionary and magical product that is literally five years ahead of any other mobile phone," Mr Jobs said.
From that moment on iphone hysteria set in, right up until it's launch in the States on the 29th June.
During that time speculation and claims were rife regarding the iphone and anyone who dared, like me, to question Job's claims was treated as a Luddite. I'm sure we've all heard at least one of these remarks:-
"I'm gonna get one as soon as it's released"
"It'll sell because it'll be cool to be seen with it"
"It'll make your phone look like cr*p"
"It'll wipe other phones off of the market"
"It'll revolutionise the phone business"
"Everyone will want one"
"It will do to the phone market what the ipod did to MP3 players and Sony"
"Keypads are redundant"
"It's all about style"
"You're a dinosaur"
"500,000 will be sold on launch weekend"
"700,000 will be sold on launch weekend"
"A million will be sold by the end of July"
And so it went on and on and on for six long months. It cannot be denied that Steve Job's announcement had created market demand but the question was, would Apple be able to deliver? The hysteria reached a crescendo on the 29th June in America where queues formed outside of stores to be the first to own this icon. The iphones specifications had been a closely guarded secret and only a handful of hand picked reviewers were allowed to have access to this miracle of modern technology prior to it's release.
Well a month has now passed. So does the iphone live up to Steve Job's hype of being 5, yes, "5 years ahead of any other mobile phone."
You can judge for yourself as actions speak louder than words:-
First lets start with what the iphone can, or cannot, do for a phone that's "magical and literally 5 years ahead of it's time."
http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/blogs/index.cfm?entryid=1107&blogid=4
http://reviews.cnet.com/smart-phones/apple-iphone-4gb-at/4505-6452_7-32180293.html?tag=promo
The one thing we were told about the iphone is that it would not be open to 3rd party software to prevent hacking and viruses. So, did it?
http://www.boston.com/business/personaltech/articles/2007/07/23/iphone_vulnerable_to_hackers/
It seems that even the reviewers of the iphone are dubious.
http://reviews.cnet.com/smart-phones/apple-iphone-4gb-at/4505-6452_7-32180293.html?tag=promo
So, how about the predicted sales of the iphone being between 500,000 and 700,000 in the first few days. It would seem that even Wall Street was taken in by the hype. So what were the sales?
http://news.independent.co.uk/business/news/article2798535.ece
http://business.guardian.co.uk/story/0,,2133824,00.html
http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/technology/article2142297.ece
It would seem that sales of the iphone have now stalled for two reasons.
Firstly the iphone does not live up to the reality distortion field that Steve Job's created with the phrase "iPhone is a revolutionary and magical product that is literally five years ahead of any other mobile phone." This sentence, like the famous Gerald Ratner "crap" remark, has come back to haunt this product. The reality is that the iphone is 5 years, and more, behind the time in many ways.
Secondly, rumours, yes rumours again, abound only mere days after it's release that Apple are bringing out a 3G version 2 of the iphone, why not HSDPA (3.5G), for launch in Europe, in November this year, and Asia in 2008. This means that those who believed the hype and have already got their iphones so they "could look cool" and "stylish" are now the proud owners of the phone worlds equivalent of the Sinclair C5 and will have to wait, because of the two year contracts on the iphone, to change. Those thinking of buying the iphone are now dubious as it did not deliver on Job's promises and are playing a wait and see game having had a lucky escape on the launch.
Of course we will have to endure the same speculation and hype again with face saving from the iphone die hards who are predicting that iphone version 2 will be a big improvement on this iphone without even knowing, as they didn't know before, what the specifications are, or if indeed there will be a version 2. The question that perhaps should be asked is why did Apple not include 3/3.5G, MMS, removable battery, etc, etc, on the launch version? After all, it's known technology, hardly rocket science. Perhaps the next one will be 10 years ahead of it's time.
As Abraham Lincoln said:- "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time."
The truth of the matter is that Apple realised that sales of their "i" players were likely to dwindle as more and more people bought mobile phones with ipod/video features. They then rushed headlong to fill this gap by bringing out their own version which is an ipod with a phone instead of a phone with an ipod.
So, again, I ask the question "Do you still want this iphone?"
For those of you who still want the iphone experience but not the $599 cost and two year contract then this may help you,
http://www.sourcinggate.com/cect-p168-touch-screen-apple-iphone-p-1036.html
At $179 it's a steal and at least it can send MMS, doesn't require you to change service provider, tie you to a two year contract, download itunes and pay 20 to activate it, has a replaceable battery, memory card slot, and is dual sim.
I carry this around with me under "notes", so I can educate my friends and family about the dangers of new technology:
"iPhone sux:
No MMS/PXT!
No video recording. (wtf?)
No 3G (Video calls, high speed internet).
No custom ringtones; can't change SMS alert tone at all and the ringtones are all shit.
No instant messaging.
No tactility, texting is horrible, blaH.
No memory expansion.
No games (yes, zero.)
No speed dialing.
No installable software.
Battery can only be replaced at a service centre.
No voice dialing.
Only 2 megapixel camera, and it sucks.
No cut/copy/paste.
No A2DP (no bluetooth headphones or other audio.)
No GPS.
No document viewing, let alone editing.
No flash support.
No file browser.
Visual voicemail laggy and slow.
Only takes that horrible iPod cable, nonstandard and prone to breakage.
No TV out.
Web browser slow, even over WLAN.
Can't type anything in landscape mode.
Only one picture at a time in email.
Note: some of this (but certainly not all) could change with firmware updates."
Most common response after reading: "Really? No way... why-- but-- ?! That sounds like-- ?!... that sounds like crap! My old phone can already... <scratches head and walks away mumbling confusedly>"
[paraphrased]
Some time back I stay behind the iPhone waiting the technical details and specifications. After Apple publish the details I check and compare with N95 and already buy N95 and are a excellent equipment.
[ You should've seen those Apple fanboys: they look like a bunch of clueless little kids, not knowing that the iPhone is just an over-hyped piece of crap... hahaha[/QUOTE]
There is now a name for these fanboys, thanks to the FakeSteve Job's site. They're.....iTards
Here is an example of an iTard with more money than sense.
We've always called them iSheep, it's a bit less offensive than iTard and it captures the fact that they just buy them to fit in with the crowd and seem cool, it was the white earphones on the tube that started it.
Even the iPod was way underspec when it was released and was inferior to the Archos Jukebox or the Creative players. That doesn't matter though as people who don't know enough about a subject will always pick style over substance!
Apparently theres a rumour that the iPhone will be 3G for it's European launch but that the 3G functionality has been "switched off" in the firmware in the US because there is limited 3G coverage.
Either way, anyone who knows their stuff would avoid it like the plague and pick up an N95 instead.
ian-ross wrote: Here is an example of an iTard with more money than sense.Nice example! 😊
awesome videos - made me smirk, some of them were well done, like the china one... i liked that
iphones look quality and look like theyre gonna be amazin, and for a certain market they are... but after havin an n73 and an n93 and longin for an (and droolin over mates) n95 i dont think i could EVER get an iphone, its just a step in the complete wrong direction. and for someone like me who takes pictures all the time i need a decent camera, and i take even more videos (especially since i got an n93) so it would just be terrible... ah well
nice find
