Audi MMI Bluetooth Integration

Hi All,

I've just recently bought an Audi Q7 with the Bluetooth phone kit and whilst the phone itself works fine with the kit to make and receive calls, it frustrates me that with the Nokia N95 the Audi MMI system can't access the phone's phonebook.

The interesting thing is that the system does recognizes and access the phonebook of my wife's nokia 6230 with no problems.

Has anybody has this same problem and manged to fix it?

Cheers

hi im an audi tech and my phone works perfect on every audi ive tested your n95 must have the latest software update and you also need to allow remote sim ( in bluetooth menu on phone) connect your phone to car via bluetooth when connected go in mmi phone settings and select contacts from sim and phone will take a few minutes to get all contacts to transfer to mmi and engine must be running when doing this

I've got the lastest firmware on the N95 and an Audi A4 2006 but the remote sim contacts doesnt work via Bluetooth.

I've turned the remote sim access on the phone within the bluetooth menu and pressed the mode button on the MFSW...nothing

It pauses for a while and comes back saying button not in use.

If you pair an old phone like a Nokia 6310i it works fine

I agree, I've the latest firmware on my N95, have al the settings as described and still I can't access the Phone book.

I think it has something to do with the way the Audi MMI system access the info as it's slightly different for the N95. I've looked into other support boards for Nokia and it seems to be a general problem which Nokia doesn't care to fix. It appears that they have taking the possition that it's up to Audi to fix it!.

That's great customer service, I spent $600 on my N95 and the $10 phone my wife has works better with the car than the N95... :icon13: 😡

Would be nice if someone finds a fix...

the biggest problem is nokia have far too much security on there latest phones blocking access to sim etc this is not only an issue with audi phone kits all manufacturers are having issues too many different phones with too many different setups beerglass007 your a4 will only access sim contacts and yes its hit or miss if it works not phone contacts and remote sim wont work phone kit not compatible yet ! pokemi what phone kit do you have in your q7 ? is it the advanced kit (no cradle in armrest bluetooth only) or the standard kit (phone cradle in armrest and bluetooth ) ?

I've the one with the cradle in the armrest and I'm connecting via Bluetooth of course.

Do you guys think i could call nokia and have a right old moan up about it to see it helps?

Cheers

Hi Richied17. I recently bought an Audi A6 with the complete MMI and bluetooth kit (without the craddle). According to Audi's website only Nokia (and BenQ) phones are compatible with this system. I am a SonyEricsson user. Are there according to you any SE phones that would work. If not which wmart Nokia do you recommend? I would like to have the complete integration of the phonebook in my MMI. My local Audi dealer does not know a thing about this, hence my question to you.
Thanks!
Christophe

I've managed to pair my Nokia N95 OK but having followed your guidance in this post it appears that there's a block on reading the SIM names and numbers into the MMI on my Audi.

I've enabled remote SIM access.

I have an normal GSM Armrest phone kit preparation (with bluetooth).

What would be good is that either Audi or Nokia helped their customers to get the best out of their chosen kit? Is that ever likely to happen?

Mike

Be sure to choose the N95 version.
Download, install, go and sit in your audi for a minute and voila, you have your contacts in MMI.

Good luck!

Jarkko

There's is no N95 version that I can see? Does your Audi phone book work download the contacts from the SIM in a Nokia N95?

If it does, it would be really helpful to let everyone know the step by step process that you followed?

Mike

Sorry to resurrect this thread from the depths of eternity, but I just bought an Audi A6 and am having problems synching the phonebook from my Samsung G810. It runs the same version of Symbian as the Nokia N95 so it might be the same procedure.

Is it possible to do it manually through synchronisation in the phone book? I only have a PC Suite protocol in there, though.

Again, sorry for the epic bump.

epic bump indeed, but no worries. 😉 Better than creating it all again.

There was some talk about manually BT'ing across (i.e. send by BT) your contacts 1 by 1 but that sounds like a nightmare...

Yeah, there's about 100 of them, would take forever, but shouldn't take more than an hour or so if that's really the only solution.

What about the ringtone? I switched to the G810 from the Nokia N95 and that correctly played the right ringtone, now it just rings. Would I also need to send the mp3 file via BT?

EDIT: I just tried sending one contact over as a business card via BT and it failed. :/

no.. the mp3 will play from the profile picked up when the BT connects... it may be changing to a car profile which has a different ringtone set...

Dunno then about the G810 sending the contacts.. I'll ask around.

I've also been asking around a few Audi dealers and one said to downgrade the software, he said to go to www.audi.de and find the compatibility list (which I've been unable to so far), one said that there's a 3rd party hardware mod coming out in september that will be able to do this...

The thing is that one of my friends bought a Parrot Minikit Slim and that, on its first pairing asked for the whole contact list and downloaded it within seconds. Now he's got voice dialing and caller identification for incoming calls.

Are you reading this, Audi? 😡

yeah, its well known that the car manufacturers are WAYYYY behind with the current list of new phones. The audi had an issue with the bluetooth module in the MY05 onwards models that it was a B and needed to be a Q module at least.

The parrot kit works with loads of stuff straight out the box... but still its a hardwired and extra bits to stick in your car. You can always use the voice dialing anyway by using SDS is you have it or by just reading the number to it... you;d have to do that anyway to voice dial as it doesnt pick up the voicetags that are on your phone.

Is it possible to have the module replaced at a dealership? If so, how many arms and legs would it cost? If there's no easy and painless way to copy the contacts over, I won't bother, I'll just call back when I pull over or when I come to my destination.

Just got a new error. I can't hear anyone anymore. They can hear me, but I can't hear them, even though the volume is all the way up. Tried with another phone, won't even connect, then after 3rd MMI restart won't even find it anymore. :con?

is the vol. up on the car ... not the phone?

If it is... I'd suggest totally deleting the pairing and starting over.

Yes, volume is way up. You can hear the ringing loud and clear, then silent. Will try to delete the pairing.

EDIT: Outgoing calls work ok, incoming I hear nothing, but they can hear me.

Didn't have the chance to figure out, it fixed itself. :S

Another question regarding this phone... is there a way to disable all the ways of unlocking it apart from the sliding mechanism? It keeps unlocking in my belt pouch. 😞

Hello All

I work for Audi and when I got my N95 18 months ago, I struggled to get the phonebook to work.

I did however find a cure! There is a piece of software you can download from the Nokai
