Firmware update failed! Any ideas on how to remedy?

Hi guys,

My N95's been fairly good, I treat it like a PC and reboot it every so often to clear out the crap thats accumulated but with little niggles really getting on my nerves like silence when making calls, 3G internet connection hangs and such like I decided today to update the mofo.

Downloaded the Nokia software, rebooted the phone and PC. Killed Norton (as per instructions on here) waited an age for the software to grab 112mb (ish) download then it set about updating.

The N95 went to the white screen with NOKIA on it, the USB disconnect/reconnect noises played a few times and then the little USB icon appeared in the taskbar to say "Error USB device not recognised". I waited then the updater software on the PC said it had lost the connection and to remove thebattery and power plug and click retry.

Did this numerous times but the N95 just stayed lit up with NOKIA on it. Pulling the battery returned it to its previous self but I really want to update it and loose the bugs and gain the features.

Can anyone give me some advice please. The phone details are:

TMobile (UK)
10.0.01B

Fairly basic apps list with only DivX and maps loaded (tho on memory card).

Thanks for your help.

It has been said in several other threads that if you simply click RETRY 3 or 4 times instead of removing the battery, that the FW upgrade then continues and completes OK.

If you read what I wrote :

"Did this numerous times but the N95 just stayed lit up with NOKIA on it."

I clicked retry 10 times while the phone sat lit up. Still no joy.

Only trting to help. 😉

Guess you need a Nokia Care Centre Engineer and a valid warranty.

That worked a treat!

Might have been because this PC is on SP1 (crapped out when I tried SP2 a couple of years ago).

Thanks for your help 😃
