I should really have asked this earlier, but hopefully someone can help quickly 😊
My wife is performing a piano concerto with a local orchestra this weekend, and she has asked if I can video-record the concert (as well as sound-recording it, with my iRiver H320 - I'm going to look like a walking gadget store!).
Having looked around to see if I can buy or hire a camcorder (not really an option, it turns out), I'm going to fall back on my new N95, for which I've ordered the DT-22 tripod (I won't use the tripod itself this time, just the clamp which I'll mount on my existing tripod).
What I'm wondering, is whether there is a limit to the length of video clips one can take with the N95, beyond the issue of the capacity of any memory card installed (I have a Sandisk Ultra II 2Gb in there, which hopefully obviates any speed and capacity issues 😊 ). For instance, my Canon IXUS can't take videos of more than three minutes in length, no matter what size of memory card is inserted.
In short: is it possible to take videos of 10 minutes-plus on the N95?
Many thanks in advance :icon14:
The only limit is memory card! But, put the phone on off-line mode, because if a call cames, it turns off the record process.
Thanks for confirming this - I'm pleased to say the concert went well, and I captured a whole 35-minute movie without a blip!
But, put the phone on off-line mode, because if a call cames, it turns off the record process.
I wholeheartedly recommend this tip - not only because of the call interruption issue, but also because switching off the phone circuits will save on battery power. This is especially important for video-recording on the N95; if you can't use the mains adapter during the recording - as I couldn't at the venue - you'll need all the battery power you can spare.
Thanks again 😊

Not strictly true, there is a time limit on video clips of one hour, you may however then record more clips up to the capacity of your memory card.
^ To stop the Movie Bootleggers lol

If you record more than an hour, there is a good chance you are gonna be boring your audience, maybe its a taste timeout!
Boring... maybe😊 . But the original question is about 10 min longer, so no problem about N95. Also important could be the memory card, because a slow memory, may avoid to reach one hour limit.

Yes, I think the limit (if any) is 1 hour - depending on your memory card being large enough.
Spoke to someone in the carphone warehouse (how knowledgeable i dont know) and he said the video duration only depends on the size of the memory card, and thus can go on unlimited if you had a big enough one.

Why? You'll get much more reliable information on here. I knew a guy who worked in carphone warehouse and he didn't know shit, he admitted to me that he made stuff up a lot of the time to get rid of people or make sales!
Nah its only cos i know the bloke rather than me going in to ask...we were just discussing stuff about the n95 and he said it was one of the benefits of the n95 that there was no limit.
