N95 1000Mah Batteries

Hi,
I'm interested in any views on the higher capacity, but very cheap, batteries for sale on ebay for the N95.

I purchased one 1000Mah and one standard rated battery with no printed rating for a few dollars each.

They do not look great quality, so i was mighty scared about putting them in my N95. They work fine though, (The 1000Mah is a tighter fit) I'm not seeing a great difference yet, but that may take a few days to really understand.

Anyone else had any success with these, or is the original Nokia battery best?

I bought one of these batteries in the hope it would provide backup to the well-known weakness of the standard Nokia unit. To be frank it has proved disappointing. At first I thought it was at least matching the Nokia's performance but when pushed hard (a full days walking with GPS in the Cairngorms!), it came a very poor second. It may just have been the battery I purchased but I would recommend the standard battery every time.

There must be a better alternative soon though!

I have tried two non-nokia batteries and they are no good. The capacity quoted are way off. The original runs for 5+ hours using Route66, while the copies run about 3 hours. That is a calculated capacity of 500mAh, compared to the original 950mAh.

Just a quick note regarding batteries and all batteries in general. As noted in previous threads.
I would only relate to these batteries as emergency only. Then never produce what they say they can.
Stick To nokia Hologram batteries. Hopefully (fingers crossed) they will bring out a higher rated mAh battery, if not for the N95 then one thats exact same size.

Note.

If not already set already go into (good power saver)

Settings > Connection > Wireless Lan > Have availablility as Never, then click Options > Advanced Settings > Yes (its ok) > Select to disable then go down to TX power level and drop it to 4mV.
Mine was dying in a day changed and now still full 30hrs later. Plus you can go back and change the automatic configuration back to enable an it will keep it at 4mV.

I'm seeing the same thing happening to mine now.

The alleged 1000Mah was showing full charge for about five hours then suddenly dropped within an hour.

As you said OK for a backup, I was buying them to keep the MP3 player going on a long haul flight. Should be OK for this as the radio side of things will be off throughout the flight.

I'll try the battery saving tip from crispy right now as well.
