Hi, just bought a new N95 from a friend who got it as an unwanted upgrade from Orange. Took my Orange sim from my W950i (hated the thing), but kept getting the 'Sim not registering' message. Called Orange customer service and after getting passed round the houses a bit, was told my sim wasnt compatible and the best thing to do was goto an Orange retail outlet and get a new sim card.
Dont understand why they couldnt just post me a new sim card out?? Anyone else had any kind of problem such as this??
the t-mobile handset is locked to t-mobile, get your friend to request unlock code which will cost £15 and then you can use any sime card including your orange
Hello Harvey RA, the N95 works with a usim sim card. I put an ordinary Orange sim card in my N95 and it failed! Ask them for a usim in order to get the full use of you're phone.
Thanks for the advice DJ Mike. I thought the sim supplied with my w950i was a usim, i'll call orange back tomorrow and try and get some sense out of em.
I have a HTC Hermes phone on 3G with Orange. When I get my T-mobile N95 unlocked will my sim work? Are all 3G sims the USIM type?
Orange customer service is hopeless. I rang them explaining the situation that my sim from the w950i did not seem to work properley with the n95. Their answer was if the sim worked ok with the w950i they would not replace or update my sim to work with the n95 as i didnt get it directly from them?! They told me the only way round it was to buy another contract sim from them!! Yeah, like im gonna pay to 70 a month to run 2 phones.......
Anyone else have any idea around this problem, just dont understand why they cant just supply me with an updated sim for a small fee......
Harvey, most providers will charge you for a Usim card. So how do you get one? Ring them up and tell them that you're sim card is damaged and you can't access the detalis on your card. They may replace the card make sure you ask for a Usim card. You will have to give them the details of you're N95 when you register. Remember to copy your contacts from sim to phone or which ever way you do it, because if they do tranfer the details from sim too Usim the old sim will be wiped! Good luck.

Is your Orange SIM a contract or PAYG one?
If it's PAYG, just buy a new one from an Orange store, but check that it is 3G compatible before you buy.
If it's a contract SIM, remove it from your handset, then call Orange CS from a landline saying the SIM is faulty and no longer works on your original handset. State that you have tested the handset with a friend's SIM so you know it is the SIM that's faulty not the handset. If you are asked to do various tests, just say 'yes, doing that, did that but it's still saying insert sim card'.
You have to be inventive with Customer Service staff, as they are reading from a script and don't know what to do if your problem is not listed.
