Ok, I upgraded to 4.0726.2.0.1 yesterday and everything is fine.
Or so i thought.
Tried TTN6 out today and it wouldn't connect to my GPS device. The N73 sees it and it's set as authorised, and within TomTom it is the selected device, but it just sits there saying "Connecting to GPS device..."
I'm running Version 6.010 (7640) with GPS driver 1.20.
Anyone else experiencing the same ? Or does anyone know of a solution before I contact TomTom support ?
Is the new version of Bluetooth in 4.0726.2.0.1 in any way incompatible ??
All a bit strange and very frustrating as I use TomTom a lot.
i would like to no before i think of voiding my WARRENTY

Uh oh! I think its the Bluetooth, because I couldnt connect to my Jabra headset no matter what I tried after i upgraded mine. I've yet to try connect to my nokia gps, but i guess i may have the same issue. DAMN! Cuz i need to use tomtom this week.
guys works for me
try a reinstall see how you go done my friends phone as well works with tomtom great picked up my gps very quick and held sinal well 😊
try the reinstall via nokia update
nice1
I'll give it a go buxz, but I've been trying to isolate this and not had a lot of luck. My BT headset works fine, but since updating, the connection between the phone and my PC' s BT is flakey at best. Also, I have tried other apps on my phone that utilise GPS and they all fall down badly.
I know the GPS device works fine as I have tested it on other Nokia phones I have here (6680) and TomTom works fine on those.
I'll try the reinstall and see how I fare.
In the bluetooth settings, try turning on the remote sim mode to on
^^^^^ thanks i just give it a go with my jabra head set
sorry did not work for me any more ideas please

Hey there Lovesign, I got a N73 last weekend, got tomtom Navigator6 and it does the same thing, it wont find a gps signal no matter what I do. I put a destination in it says: "Waiting for a valid GPS signal" Tomtoms website says that it should take no more than 5 mins to find your location the first time. I'm still waitin, been about 2 hours and not even one satellite has found me let alone 4! I'll let you know IF I get anywhere m8. cheers

heres a link to the nokia disscussion board concerining this firmware i help it can be helpfull to some people
theres a few peepz on there guessing the same as me that the firmware is having backwards compatibillity trouble with bluetooth versions 1.1
there is also eveidence of other gps devices working with this firmware so nokia hasnt made the firmware nokia only
i think we are slowly getting there with this bluetooth issue
any1 having troubles should try and get to a gps device with a higher bluetooth version ie version 2 and see how they get on

Hi,
Sorry to jump into this thread but it seemed the most appropriate
I have TOMTOM 6 successfully installed and working other than the fact that I am unable to enter a postcode. All I see is a load of European post codes and it will not allow me to enter a letter.
Has anybody else experienced this and is there a solution? Am I doing something wrong?
Do you have the postcode zip file installed on your memory card?
It should be in the root of your memory card, called ZIP
Thanks for the reply.....I've checked the folder which is in fact on the memory card but it only has a Dutch postcode file.
I am now in the process of resolving thanks to you. :icon14: 😊
cool 😊
If you get stuck locating the UK Zip folder drop me a pm
Hi,
I've recently been looking at GPS for my n73 and it looks like a mine field if you have s60 v4 firmware. I've tried Route 66 already but didn't realise it only worked on v2/3.
Does navigator 6 with a bluetooth v2 work on the n73 with 's60 v4'. I've also looked at wayfinder 7 except that you have to go on the interweb each time you want a route, which could work out expensive. Are there any other systems that people have used that work ok - I'm quite happy buying DVD with GB maps seperately to the GPS receiver.
Well, the GPS saga came to a thankful close today when my new GPS receiver arrived. It has become clear since the release of v4 firmware that Nokia failed to build in legacy support for older versions of Bluetooth so a new GPS device was sought by me and many other users.
After doing a fair bit of research, I eventually plumped for the Holox BT441. This is a 44 channel receiver with A-GPS and lightning fast start up times. It uses a Nokia BL-5C Li-Ion cell and gives up to 1000 hours of standby and 20hours continuous use. This is assisted by the auto shut down and power up feature. If the unit detects no physical movement, it will shut itself down into sleep mode. The moment it detects movement, it wakes up and re-acquires a signal in less than 1 sec !!
I have tested it with it stored in my glovebox and it could still see 15 satellites !
I'm very impressed and throughly recommend this item.
It is available from many sellers on eBay, but I bought mine from a seller called Holox Direct.
Here is a picture...

Hope that helps 😊
