Hello everybody,
I just got my new N95 and I wanted to install the freeware FExplorer, but what the F...., different to my good old N70 , I now need a Certificate everytime i want to install software on my N95.
So google , google ..... and I did find out I had to be on symbiansigned.com to get licenses.
Even BIGGER was the surprise when I saw that they only give certificates to Developpers !!!!!!
Can someone tell my what to do ??
Is there a way around symbiansigned or do I first need to take a course s60 developping ???
Why did Nokia even lock up their platform ??? This was not the case for s60v1 and v2 !!!!!
Personnaly I think this is really a bad joke !!! :icon13: :icon13:
I spent 750 euros on a phone you cant personalise the way you want !!
Maybe I was better off spending my money on a windows platform phone ??
Grtz ....
How to get software running on N95 when symbiansigned down ??
You cant do anything. Just wait for Symbian signed cames again.
i'm using t-mobile ver 11 and in the app manager choose options, then settings, software installation. this gives you the option to install all or only signed. By default mine was set to install all.
But it works like that. Wait a few days, and you can sign again.
Hello Nj7,
The site is online , so that's not the problem , the problem is that when I make a request to sign , they tell my i'm not authorised to do requests and that I need to contact symbiansigned*symbian.com.
"Developer Certificates are provided for testing purposes only and not for distribution purposes. This is clearly stated in the terms and conditions signed up to by all users. If you require Developer Certificates for testing an application you are developing please send an email with the following information to symbiansigned*symbian.com
Subject: Developer Certificate enable request:
User name
First Name Last Name
Application Name
Application Version
Company Name
Company Address "
What the other poster said , simply doesn't work , I tried it allready by setting installing software to All , but you just can't install unsigned software to your N95. It keeps saying : "Problem with the Certificate".
Grtzzzzz...
This won't help everyone, but if you've already used the site to get a dev cert within the last few months, you can just reuse the same .cer file to sign other applications, provided it's within 6 months of the original request.
Hello Randomfan,
That's just the problem , just got my N95 for 2 days, so I never requested a .cer before.
I find it very low off Nokia to change the rules all at onces , if I knew this before and Nokia played it fair by telling everyone they were going to lock up their platform, I never bought a s60v3 phone in the first place.
I fully agree they want to do something about illegal software on their phones, but now even good freeware that makes your phone ' more friendly to use' is banned .
Grtzzz...
I never looked into this in detail, but I seem to remember seeing someone saying that it's only a temporary thing as they are experiencing some sort of technical problem, and the service will be back up in the near future (weeks). No idea if that's the case, but let's hope it's true.

Considering the size of the Route66 signing thread in these forums, I would not be at all surprised if SymbianSigned are re-developing the certification process to avoid assisting software piracy... ?

Not sure if it's much help to you, but you shouldn't have to sign with a .cer file every app you want to install.
I've installed plenty of freeware apps, themes and games I had on my old n73 with no problems whatsoever.
There is one app I need to sign, for which I'm patiently waiting for SS to come back up to fully functional. Although, I suspect, as has been mentioned, they're going to change the process somehow.....
