Bluetooth not working since 4.0726.2.0.1

30 replies · 7,874 views · Started 08 July 2007

Hi,

Since upgrading my phone to 4.0726.2.0.1 I cant connect to anything bluetooth, my Jabra headset, nokia GPS or my PC.

Anyone else experience this? or has anyone with 4.0726.2.0.1 installed have bluetooth working?

Nokia better fix this quick, cuz a bluetooth connection is critical in my mobile use.

Thanks for the tip!, I re-installed it and now I can connect to my PC!! :icon14:

Now I just need to test the Jabra and Nokia Gps connection, hopefully...

hi spurry
i experienced slow down on tomtom 6

i went to tomtom menu
then change preferences
then disable/enable poi

when i got in here every1 was ticked and ive got quite a few pois in there

i left all speed cams , petrol stations, motorway services and tescos on there and it worked soooooooo soooooo much better mate.

iam guessing it was struggling drawing all the pois and locating them as it went along with a few selected it works great

this could be down to the n73s small ram

only a guess but disabling a few of them pois should help

nice1

Ok, I've been having this Bluetooth problem too (see http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/62402/ )

I'm now on my 2nd reinstall after the first one made little or no difference.

Of course, whenever I reinstall, NSU finds the downloaded firmware file from my initial upgrade as it still resides on my PC. My question is, where is that file ? Could it possibly be that which is corrupt and causing these issues ? What I want to try, if only to isolate it, is to delete the stored firmware file and get NSU to re-download it. I've checked the NSU folder and it doesn't reside there. Any ideas anyone ??

Minor Update:

I've just checked the Standby screen whilst TomTom is trying to connect to the GPS and the BT symbol that shows under the battery indicator is flashing between "connected" (with brackets around it) and not connected. It flashes between these every second or so. It's obviously trying to handshake with the device but failing everytime.

This is now my 3rd re-install and I'm getting really frustrated. At least I now know it's not TomTom or the GPS unit, but yet another flakey firmware from Nokia 😞

If anyone can help me with my previous question about where the downloaded FW resides on the PC after NSU has downloaded it, I can eliminate another possible culprit.

Cheers,

Rob.

i just rang Radiophone Services Ltd service point 08456448980

and they said, nokia says there phones are only compatible with nokia products

so look like they have stiffed us so we have to buy there products
also said they carnt down grade them back and have to wait for nokia to bring out a fix

wtf is that all about

The inability to downgrade has been known for a long while, but what the guy you spoke to probably means is that Nokia only support their own add on devices and cannot guarantee others. I seriously doubt Nokia have built in a "Nokia Only" feature. My non Nokia BT Headset still works ok.

It's interesting that others have got this firmware and have no issues.

just rang jabra and they say it a fault on my phone

so it like talking to the wall:banghead:

have nokia change the bluetooth in this firmware and it is no longer compatible

My Jabra bt250v still doesnt connect too, it pairs, but cant connect :icon13: :frown:

However my Nokia LDW-3 GPS does connect and works with tomtom6, I can also connect to my bro's Sony Ericsson and send data.

This is pretty bad! people having bluetooth issues with all kinds of hardware.

Lovesign, was your phone in 'GENERAL' profile when you did the upgrade? because i think this made difference on mine. Needs to be in on General profile.

HEY GUYS SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR BLUETOOTH ISSUES YOUR NOT THE ONLY 1S IVE JUST BEEN ON NOKIAS WEBSITE IN THEIR FORUMS QUITE A FEW PEEPS WITH SAME TROUBLES

IAM A LUCKY 1

I USE THE HOLOX BT-74 32 SAT GPS RECIEVER WORKS LIKE A DREAM

I HAD TO GO INTO TOMTOM OPTIONS THEN CHANGE PREFERENCES SCROLLED THROUGH TILL I GOT GPS STATOUS CLICKED IN HERE AND CONFIGURED IT LIKE THIS

AS I SAY IT WORKED 100%

HAVE ANY OFF YOU SPOKE TO NOKIA??

WHAT WITH BLUETOOTH STEREO SUPPORT DO YOU THINK THIS COULD HAVE MESSED IT UP??
WHY SOME PEOPLES AND NOT OTHERS THOUGH??
NOKIA SHOULD RELEASE BUG ISSUES WITH EACH FIRMWARE AND LEAVE IT UP TO THE USER TO DECIDE AT THE MOMENT WE ARE JUST GUNIEA PIGS FOR THEM AND IT SUCKS A BIT
LAST TIME I UPDATED MY PHONE WOULDNT SHOW CONTACTSNAME WHEN THEY TEXT ME YOU WOULDNT BELIEVE HOW FRUSTRATING THAT WAS!! NOW PEOPLE CANT CONNECT VIA BLUETOOTH
THESE ARE SUPPOSED TO SORT BUGS OUT NOT CREATE NE ONES FOR PEEPZ

GOOD LUCK GUYS HOPE YOU SORT IT WHEN YOU DO MAKE SURE YOU POST ON HERE AS IVE GOT A FEELING A FEW PEOPLE WILL BE WANTING THE FIX

IS THIS NEW V4 A GENUINE NOKIA RELEASE I HEARD THEIR OLD V4 WAS PULLED???

Hi Rob.

My update FW files ended up in:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Nokia\Nokia Service Layer\A\nsl_service_module_00001\www.dsut.online.nokia.com.oti.caresuite\Products\rm-133

I just searched for files updated yesterday, when I upgraded.

Not tried my TT6 yet - was going to tonight. Will be pssst if it doesn't work..

Update 08:30:

Nope - no joy here either.

"Connecting to GPS device...", then in the background the same bracketed B, then a flash, then a brief unbracketed B to the left, then repeat and stuck in that loop.
It actually makes my receiver's blue BT light go off during the attempted connection (I'm using a Fuzion receiver)

Haven't tried a reinstall yet - will do tonight - damn PITA - you get A2DP and then lose your way.

Nokia giveth with one hand then taketh away with the other.

guys what code did you use to install???

i used

0529825 (what code is this for any1 know ie vanilla music plum etc etc uk china etc etc)

my bluetooth is working very well with bt74 32 sat gps reciever and other phones

on some forums i have seen some people using the code

0527009

to get their upgrade

all i know is mine works do you think this has something to do with it??

has anyone tryed using a different gps device???

also iam using tomtom6 version 6.10

anyone give feedback on the codes they use??

i sell phones online so i think ill just be updating them with the latest music edition firmware rather then this one if its 50 50 wether it will work or not with tomtom 6

well i have called in at my local nokia service centre today and they have told me that all new nokia phones and firmware is only compatible with nokia products but may work with uthers but they can not guarantee this

so i asked them to test my phone with a nokia head set and it worked fine i could use it ok

so when i got back to work i rang nokia and they said the same

verry sad this has happend just seems to me another way to make money out or us :icon13:

@ Buxz777

I upgraded with 0529825 and am using TTN 6.10.
Would need to try another BT receiver to check compatibility.

just got this email back from nokia

Dear Mark,

Thank you for emailing Nokia Care.

In response to your email, there are no options available to downgrade the firmware of a Nokia phone. In regard to not being able to establish connection with your Jabra headset, I am not able to comment on the compatibility and functionality of third party accessories with a Nokia phone. I suggest contacting the manufacturer of the device to confirm the possibility of connecting it with a Nokia N73 supporting the current firmware.

You may like to visit our website at www.nokia.co.uk for more information and support for your Nokia device. If you have further enquiries, please write to us again or contact Nokia Care at 0845 0455555. We operate between the hours of 9.00am and 9.00pm, Monday to Friday (except bank & public holidays).

Kind regards,

Siva Nishan
Nokia Care

Just tried to connect to a friend's TomTom unit - same thing.
So isn't the GPS receiver or TomTom.

Guess I'll try a reinstall tonight after wiping the files from my PC.

:icon13:

Unless I side-grade to the 73ME again.. ?

Update:

OK now I'm narked.
Software files deleted from PC.
Software reinstalled, new files downloaded.
Firmware reinstalled.

Still no joy.
Sits there fat, dumb and flashing.

Connection to PC is fine - get a solid (B)
If I switch my BT receiver off I just get a flashing (B).
When it's on I get a blink of a B to the left of the flashing (B)
Grrrrrrr.
😡 :icon13:

How about you Lovesign (Rob)??

So are you (and Nokia) saying I need a Nokia BT GPS receiver?
Do they make one?

And if it works for other people (ie Buxz777) its cos they have a device that falls into the category of "may work with others but they can not guarantee this"?

Great!

:con?

i am only telling you what i was told by nokia

as for do they do a gps i dont no EDIT: seems they do m8 http://www.flickr.com/photos/teddythebear/149479767/

just to let you no i have this gps unit http://www.pentagongps.co.uk/item.do?item=126

cos they have a device that falls into the category of "may work with others but they can not guarantee this

Nope, I haven't tried re-installing since Monday as I'm away from home on business.

Nokia hasn't "blocked" non Nokia branded accessories, they have simply released a buggy FW. However, their front line support staff are trained to reply with the classic "if it's not ours, we won't support it". It's standard Customer Service Bull "poo". This release is that flawed in the BT department that Nokia developers cannot ignore it and I hope we will get a fix very soon.

I'll be trying the re-install again when I get home, although I'm tired of the process TBH.

If I can find a retailer that sells a Nokia branded GPS device, I will try it, but I'm not holding out much hope.

What does offer a glimmer though, are the reports of some users who have upgraded and have no issues whatsoever.

I'm not a happy bunny 😡 :banghead:

I've dropped them a line - see if I get the same fob-off as you. I'm tending to agree with Rob though, it stinks of a cover-up and that will be the support line until the firmware is patched when a miraculous compatibility fix will be announced at 4.0279.x.x.

And you're right - for the record, Nokia do the LD-1W and 3W receiver - there's a few on ebay.

But I'll use my missus' N73 next week when I'm travelling - she's not upgraded hers.

Technology eh? 😉
