Removing "Dead Apps"

6 replies · 2,569 views · Started 09 July 2007

Since updating the firmware, the memory card java apps automatically re-installed, but...

they are "dead"!

When I try to run them they do nothing, and if i try to uninstall it says "Removal Failed".

But if I try to re-install them (becuase I want these apps!) I get an error saying already installed, or something to that effect.

How can I fix this?

You need to open the map named private on the card. You'll need to use a card reader- it won't show up while in the phone. Then you need to open the app manager on the phone and note the name of the apps which are not installed. They are often named like ab56005 instead of the apps real name. Then just delete these from the private folder.

if you have problems with java apps just remove it or reinstall it, for problems with sis files use shug post

Long winded but simple solution: Reinstall over the top (app still won't work yet), then uninstall, then reinstall.

Launch Application Manager (in the mobil's tools menu) search for the apps in question, and select Options->Remove

hot.jay: What do you mean by "just remove it"? Where is "it"?
dez_borders: What are you talking about? He already said that didn't work.

if we talk about dead JAVA apps, go to icon of dead java app. left click (options) than remove it ! you can use this feature for all apps. when everything is allright, but for removing dead *.sis apps use shug post. if you don't have card reader, go to mass storage mode with your nokia and do same things as allready shug described in his post ! (search and delete from private folder)
