I've been having a relatively frustrating time trying to get a Belkin Bluetooth PC card adaptor to transfer (and hence sync) back and forth with my p800. Using the Belkin software and the p800 I can get them to pair up no problem. I can also send contacts and calendar entries from the p800 to the PC but when I try to set sync settings or synchronize I am told "no phone connected". Also if you try to click on a picture file (as an example) and "send to" from the phone it recognizes the PC no problem but fails at transfering the file. And when you try to do the same from the PC ...choose "send to" and then "Bluetooth" it says "other...." rather than recognizing the p800. But all the time I can as the Belkin software to locate nearby items and it picks up the paired p800.
Well I am completely confused now. Have reloaded the sync software to no avail. The drivers for Belkin are all up to date.
Anyone else have a similar problem that they have solved....care to share? Please? 😞
bluetooth transfer wierdness
I have a P800 too, and had the same problem with both the p800 and my sisters t68i. Try to get updated drivers for your bluetooth device. I am using the UBT1000 USB bluetooth with the widcom drivers version 1.2.2.18 and all is ok now.
I have a MS Wireless Optical Intellimouse Explorer (or something like that) for Bluethooth. The mouse-reveicer also works as a bluetooth access-point for other devices than the mouse. I had no trouble finding the pc from my p800, but failed to transfer anything at all.
The Intellimouse is famous for having no (non-mouse) bluetooth profiles and is effectively useless for any other kind of bt connection
Well heres the update on my bluetooth problems.. No solution in sight. After doing everything seemingly possible...removing and reinstalling bluetooth drivers, reinstalling SE sync software etc etc. have the same problem. Can send calendar and contacts from p800 to laptop but the sync software on laptop says p800 is not connected. Talked with the support folks at Belkin. Their comment is that they will support a product up to you being able to pair it with another bluetooth device but that is it. They claim the problem must be with SE software. So I contacted SE (went through the UK site since I know the Canada/US site won't be providing service for this phone for a long time)....answer from SE, as expected, this phone has not been released. We do not currently support this phone and do not know when we will be supporting it in the future.
What kind of bs is this. Surely there is a central support contact that deals with the underlying software/hardware issues that have nothing to do with the country of origin? Typical SE response ....thanks for your money...see ya!
At least everything else seems to be working. Haven't yet been able to get at my POP3 email but eventually I'll sort that one out.
I think this bluetooth issue is important. I find the cradle does not allow the phone to seat itself properly each time you try to sync...requires a bunch of fiddling. When I travel I want to carry the least bit of cables and other crap with me and a bluetooth card would fit the bill..
Does anyone have a bluetooth solution that works??
where i can download widcom drivers version 1.2.2.18
can u email me [email protected]
Thanks
Okay here is a long list of steps which I hope you can follow.
First of all, the reason why you can't send picture files from the P800 to the PC is because of the buggy Widcomm stack of the Bluetooth software.
To eliminate the transferring failed messages:
1. From your computer, go to Start -- Run -- type REGEDIT press OK
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER and expand it.
3. Go to Software tree and expand it.
4. Go to Widcomm --- Services --- 0004 and expand it
5. On the right pane, look for AcceptOther and double-click on it
6. You would see that the value data is set to 0. Change it by entering the value 1.
That's it. Close Regedit. Now try sending a picture from your P800 to your PC again.
Now on to the second part:
When you try to send a picture from the PC to the P800, you can't right-click on the picture file and choose SEND TO -- Other because that is NOT the way. You can only do this if you're transferring a file to another computer.
You have to drag and/or copy the picture file to the INBOX folder of the P800. You can do this by double-clicking on the My Bluetooth Places icon on the desktop. Then on the left pane, select View devices in range. Then select the P800 icon. After that, you would see the available services of the P800 ( Don't forget to turn ON the bluetooth mode of the P800 frst). Select Inbox. You can drag and drop or copy the picture file you have on your PC to this folder. Your P800 would then receive the file.
Now for the 3rd Part:
In order to sychronise,
1. Turn On the Bluetooth on your P800
2. Go to My Bluetooth Places (double-click icon on desktop)
3. Choose view devices in range
4. Double-click on the P800 icon
5. Choose the Bluetooth Serial Port to connect to the P800
You will get a message that the PC has connected to the P800 using Com 0 ) or something like that. You may get an error message immediately after that indicating that the connection has failed...
7. Immediately launch the Synchronise menu of the PC Suite for the P800.
Make sure that you have established a Pairing with the P800 and the PC before you attempt to perform the steps above.

Thanks for the very detailed, helpful response. This is a great forum for getting information...seems to be a bit more flameproof than some of the others out there (no names mentioned to protect the innocent). I haven't had a chance to try out your fix yet ....getting ready for a trip to the Middle East...guess I should have waited to buy a p800 until I went through Dubai...and i understand this is the start of shopping festival time to boot!!!
I'll have to screw up the courage to enter the register editor...looks pretty straight forward though.
I'll let you know how it all works out....if you hear a loud scream it didn't. 😉
