SymSMB 2.0 - Am I being stupid?

Mornin' All,

So, last night I finally got my trial version of SymSMB 2.0 working.

I can access my shared folder on my laptop over WLAN from my phone.
However, what I was hoping to do was be able to open and browse photos on my laptop from my phone. However, I can see the files, but all I can do is move, copy, rename, delete etc.

Can you open/stream files from your PC on your n95 via WLAN using SymSMB, or can you just 'see' the files and do the actions above?

Am I being stupid?

What I'd like is to be able to show family and friends photos from my laptop, using my n95 and TV -out via WLAN.

If SymSMB can't do it - is there anything that can?

I know ORB can and I have this working - although it's a little slow and cluncky as it's going over the web.

I believe Home Media Server can - although I can't get my head round the UI of this at all!!

Any other thoughts?

(snips)

Actually not necessarily. Although ORB phones home to set things up, as long as you have a uPNP router then the actual content gets streamed across the WLAN.

Mine isn't a uPNP router.

I guess I need to persist with Home Media Server.

Ahh - that's a shame 😞
And, from what I've read, you can't do it with Home Media Server either....

Guess I'll stick with Orb for now...
