HIYA EVERYONE
RIGHT A FEW PEOPLE ARE SUFFERING FROM BLUETOOTH PROBLEMS ON HERE WITH THIS FIRMWARE IT MAINLY SEEMS TO BE WHEN CONNECTING TO A GPS UNIT TO RUN TOMTOM6.
I WOULD LIKE EVERYONE WHO HAS INSTALLED THIS FIRMWARE TO LEAVE SOME FEEDBACK SO WE CAN SEE IF ITS HAPPENDING ALOT OR TO JUST A FEW PEOPLE.
for myself it works 100% no probs whatsoever
my tomtom and gps work -- i use a 32 sat bt-74 holox gps bought from ebay for around 32 pounds connection is strong and dosent break
bluetooth and pc work fine
bluetooth and sony ericsson phone all good
n73 to n73 all good via bluetooth
phone speed roughly same as newest music edition
camera does seem better at night shots blue haze is defently not as noticeable even my girlfriend said it looked better when i showed her
4gb mini sd card still not supported properly phone becomes slow when trying to run it and crashes aot
bluetooth stereo now supported
basically iam finding this quite good firmware
HOWEVER THERES A FEW PEOPLE THAT ARENT SO IF YOU HAVE THIS FIRMWARE RUNNING PLEASE LEAVE SOME FEEDBACK HERE TO GIVE OTHERS A CLUE ON THIS NEW RELEASE
IAM MAINLY INTRESTED IN THE BLUETOOTH ISSUE IF THIS IS HAPPENDING TO THE MAJORITY THEN NOKIA SHOULD PULL THIS SOFTWARE FROM THERE UPDATER
SO PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK
THANKS IN ADVANCE
BUXZ
Only problems I have (as have been documented elsewhere) are with connecting to my BT-77 GPS device and the BT connection between my N73 and my PC is very flakey.
Other than that, no noticeable difference in performance.

this is the exact one i use
but bought from a uk seller
dont know if this helps at all
do you know what version your gps works on
i was thinking maybe nokia upgraded the bluetooth due to the stereo feature but maybe they forgot to code it so it was compatible with bluetooth v1.2 1.1 etc etc
so if your nokia is say bluetooth v2 which i think it is and your gps device was v1.2 which some are , now it might have worked before because the old firmware on ur phone was backwards compatible but the new software might not be backwards compatible
i know its a long shot but it sort of makes sense dosent it?? and maybe this is why some peoples work and others dont
just a stab in the dark though
KEEP THE FEEDBACK CUMING GUYS
Bluetooth connection to PC and file transfer - fine
Bluetooth connection to other phones and file transfer - fine
Bluetooth connection to headset - not tried
Bluetooth connection to GPS receiver - unachievable
My GPS receiver is a Fuzion Silvershield
In line with buxz's theory, my receiver module is Bluetooth v 1.2 but aren't later bt versions supposed to be backwards compatible?

yes ther are supposed to be iam wandering if this is what nokia messed up
they would have had to do summin to the bluetooth to add the stereo support so if they have messed with the coding then perhaps they messed with the backwards compatibillity etc
this would defently explain why it works for some and not others i may not be exactly right but ive got a feeling its along these lines otherwise it just seems weird how it works for some and not others there has to be a reason for this
nokia cant just say that it will work with some and not others there surely has to e a ruling to this ie has to be v1.2 has to be v1.1
i mean what are nokia putting in their gps devices that make their ones work so well?? are they v2.0 or 1.2
as we go along we can eliminate whats what
KEEP THE FEEDBACK COMING GUYS
N73/Tomtom 6 to Holux 240. Working fine. Kept a rock solid connection all the way from Essex to Somerset and back last weekend, even when i took the phone with me while paying for LPG. When i got back to the car, the Holux/N73 connection was remade before i even opened the door.
N73 to PC via bluetooth. Working fine. Both at home and at work. Walk into the room, instant connection. In fact right now the phones on top of the fridge, in the next room, through a brick wall, 15' away and still connected.
N73 to other phones. Working fine.
N73 to bluetooth headset. Not tried.
Pop email accounts set to periodically automatically download email over GPRS (access point specified), New email alerts set to On in Email account settings.
Emails are downloaded (email and attachments), but no icon or audible tone is heard when playing back music over Bluetooth via BH-500. Worked fine in firmware released prior to 4.0726.2.0.1.

heres a link to the nokia disscussion board concerining this firmware i help it can be helpfull to some people
theres a few peepz on there guessing the same as me that the firmware is having backwards compatibillity trouble with bluetooth versions 1.1
there is also eveidence of other gps devices working with this firmware so nokia hasnt made the firmware nokia only
i think we are slowly getting there with this bluetooth issue
any1 having troubles should try and get to a gps device with a higher bluetooth version ie version 2 and see how they get on
please get back to me if possible
nice 1 guys
I have the same problem with bluetooth connecting to my GPS device. Its from 2003 so will be running the older version of BT. Lets hope Nokia release a fix soon

Do you have multiple accounts set up?
I find that my default account (Yahoo) gets a mail icon, but my secondary (Google) never gets an icon.

I have 2 tiscali POP email accounts set up. If I have no BT connection, I get an icon, but none if I have the bluetooth connection to BH-500 established.
N73 with V4.0726,2.0.1 firmware.
32 channel gps receiver purchased on ebay (Series 2), working fine.
Tom Tom 6 (Installed on memory card), working fine.
Phone to pc (Bluetooth 2), working fine.
Dont have Bluetooth headset (yet).
Edit. Have just checked. My gps is the same as the one purchased by 'buxz777', on ebay.

And mail notification works correctly if audio playback over Bluetooth is paused.
Hi guys - yep, the newest Nokia firmware offering is sound enough but my original Tomtom Bluetooth GPS receiver is not communicating with my N73, it pairs but the tomtom program does not connect/communicate.
I have been in touch with Nokia, who's responses are, shell we say, are "generic" to say the least, "we are sorry you are experiencing problems....however, purchase the Nokia GPS as we have tested this and cannot speak for 3rd party hardwares, blah, blah" - Great, in other words, we dont care, make us richer by buying more of our products!.....
Anyone wanna buy an original TTGPS receiver, mint condish, say 30 + P+P???.....lol, no?, ok...EBAY it is then.
And yes, the GPS receiver works fine with my PC, Pocket PC and Orange SPVC500.
Oh well, another waste of time, i wonder if threatening Nokia with some bad publicity from a national newspaper would do any good?, prolly not!
Oh, and another yes, i do own 2 original copies of Tomtom, version 3 for PPC and version 6 for symbian!... 😊
Regards
