i think the aniviewer will just loop the gif when you browse it but not really loop for the boot up, just like the seleQ feature for gifs. 😃

I definitely misunderstood something here 😃
hmmm i tried a animated Gif but it dident work 😞
just showed it STILL wasent moving or anything
could you tell me of the app that helps here I want to make my own boot up logo...
You have to convert the gif to multiframe mbm picture format.
Try XnView for converting:
http://www.xnview.com
Havent done it myself though. 😃
Yes but does it work for sure or will he have an unusable phone?
No idea 😃 But i think it wont do any harm. (hopefully) 😃
Maybe it wont animate, just show only the first frame.
I set an animated gif as my background pic on my 3650.
It's NOT playing the animation, only the first frame.
I'll have to play around with this more.
No, the perfect resolution would be 176x208 which is the resolution of the display. Anything larger gets shrunk to best fit and anything smaller has a white border around it.
Stephman
for animated wallpaper you have to use eProfiles from PsiLoc.
This thread was about boot-up logo 😃

About Xnview,i never found the option for multiframed mbm's.
If anyone did, please let me know.
Yeah, been looking at it too, just a moment ago.
But there is no such thing in xnview.
It plays those, but cant make em. 😞 damn.
Can someone please explain how to change the boot up logo.Ive searched but to no avail. Thanks
In the Settings -> Phone -> Welcome note or logo
or rtfm 😃
Did anyone succeed in making a MBM image with frames.
It would be nice to have a custom animated boot up logo.
And the only way to do so is with a multiframed MBM,at least in theory. 😃
Here is something I just made 😃
Hope someone likes it. No animation, as i cant get any multiframe mbm's to work 😞
here mine
There are some mbm converters for psion pda's, maybe one of them wll help convert an animated gif?

I've looked and looked, but no luck.
If you know of some piece of software that can help us,please let us know.
had a bit of a look around and in a way it links back to AAS 😊
I think this is whats needed to make and break down mbms
original post by dazler (thats the link to AAS :P ) here
heres a tutorial
its all a bit hardcore, but if you're prepared to break down a gif file and then rebuild it using bmconv then the results will be worthwhile 😊
[edit] just loaded the mbm to my phone, it animates 😃!!!!
2 problems, cant get it to loop, well it doesnt loop when i view it from images or inbox and on start up only the first frame appears. I'll try a smaller sized mbm and another with different content to see if that helps. time to work on that ryu pic that some1 posted a while back 😊
happy mbming lol
[edit1] err, cant get it to animate on boot up, only the first frame appears, the following frames don't appear :/
any other ideas? hehe 😊
Excelent,it would be great if this works and one could set the animated mbm as background or boot up logo.
quick update incase ppl miss the edit in the reply hehe
i tried different pics in different colour formats but couldnt get the mbm to animate at bootup, only the first frame appears 😞(
i cant figure out how to use the mbm whizard tho, bmconv on its own seems easier 😊
post your results here after giving it a try, let us know if u can get it to loop, also some1 with a filemanager, can you find the default boot logo here so i can have a gander at it? 😃 ty 😊
btw i'm trying this on v3.16 if that matters 😊
hmm.. tried it with 4.39
can get it to loop with aniviewer, so the image should work, but it doesnt animate at startup or as a background image 😞
what a pitty...
The mbm in the startup is consisted of 20 images. If you copy it to the PC you will see that it shows as an mbm iwth 20 frames but only black screen. So the format must be very different.
MaleBuffy is right,so even if we make an animated mbm it might not do what we want it to do.
BTW:I made some multiframed mbm's but i cant get them to animate.
I'm sure that they are made of more then one frames because i can view them (The frames) with Xnview.
How do you make them animate?!?!
i just followed the instructions in that tutorial.
get yer bitmaps
create a command file listing the image colourdepth and the image name
then run bmconv telling it the name of your command file and bam, you should have an mbm file that animates when viewed on the phone, but doesnt loop. It may loop in a viewer i'm not sure, i havent tried.
Well,it does not work for me,i made couple of bmp's from frames extracted of Ryu's gif.
Then i folowed the steps as described in the tutorial and made a mbm from those bmp's.
They dont animate but i can see every frame with Xnview.
Correction, the mbm is animated when aniviewer is used.
Too bad we dont have a clue in what way Startup.mbm format is different from a regular mbm.
it doesnt animate for you when viewing the image in your outbox or from images?
It animates on my phone but doesnt loop, does it loop in aniviewer? I received an mms message containing a matrix gif and it animated when viewing from the inbox, that one looped for me, however the ones using bmconv dont loop. Strange stuff hehe.
