V5 F/W and battery

I have come up against a battery issue with the V5 fw, could anybody else check to see if they get a similar problem.

My battery is ok after full charge and will last as usual all day if I don't touch anything else on the phone, however, if I use the wifi, maybe just for a few minutes, and then shut shut the wifi down, my battery will drain very fast, over a couple of hours and it will be dead, its as if the wifi is not switching off, even after I have closed it (and checked to make sure it is closed)

I know a few others have had battery problems with V5, maybe you could check this out for me.

Thanks.

I've had battery problems too since the upgrade. And now you've mentioned it, I'm pretty sure it drains a lot faster during and after I've been using wifi.

I`ll say the same after using the wifi for 5 mins then switching it off the battery life seems to drop off very fast..........to be honest this is only noticable after using truphone, other wifi apps dont seem to have the same effect on the battery......just out of intersest has anyone tried turning down the wifi TX power from 100mw which I presume is default to 10mw which I belive is the minimum....not tried it myself could be worth a try.

I turned the WiFi power from 100mw to 10mw and I havent had any problems. It still drops every once in awhile but it used to do it before too. On average I can get about 3+ hours of Wlan and with enough battery to make a few phone calls and texts with one charge. I also set my LCD brightness one tick below max.

Yea I thought initially it was because of truphone because thats what I mostly use wifi for, but a couple times I have checked email over wifi for a couple minutes and the same thing happens, after switching of wifi the battery will drain over a 3 or 4 hours...

Yep, I've had the same issues. I wasn't sure if it was the v5 firmware or the new v3 Truphone, though.

I'm glad it's not just me...... I thought I was going nuts 😞

I have truphone but I have auto-start disabled and I only use once or twice a week, even then I disconnected straight after. To me it seems to be anything wifi related, as this was happening after the v5 upgrade and before I installed truphone.
