hi guys...you may find this question simple but i want to clear my ideas..i have n72...(1)exactly what things(i.e. Contacts..) are taken backup during "backup phone memory to memory card" action? (2) i have installed most of applications on my memory card..formatting phone will affect them?

2. No, but... some software have some files left on phone. That ones, are lost, and is necessary install that ones again.
If you made a full backup before, there's nothing to worry about.

what do you mean by full backup...is it same as backing up phone memory to memory card? Or i require a PC...and what about my 1st question..what else is included along with contacts?

Backing phone memory on MMC. Restore the backup and you won't see any differences; everything will be just as before, including contacts, calendar, settings, user files, messages etc.

i had installed and removed lots of applications on my MMC...but i think some of them left behind few files and their score increased... so i simply transfered my music,image and videos to pc...removed all apps..took backup and formatted it(3 button)...i was happy to see my C: drive size reducing from 4 MB to merely 700 kb...now i restored backup..and to my surprise all that sh**t files came back that i wanted to get rid..../// i want to backup contacts and calender only nothing else..how to do that??
Well, you have to make the backup with PC Suite's Content copier. There you have the option to backup only some of the data. Contacts can be also copied to MMC.

the option in pc suite is not available(faded)??? By the way i formatted phone after taking backup of contacts on MMC...and got it right.....one more question please: what about "contact.cdb","calender","notepad.dat",etc. Files in system\data folder.can i just copy them(to mmc or pc) and use them for restore later? Anyone has tried it!
It cannot be shaded if the phone is connected. Select the phone from the drop list and then click on backup.
Contacts.cdb, notepad.dat and all the other files can be copied, but you might have a surprise when trying to paste them back. You'll get an error "File is in use"
