Folks,
Just read through Rafe's review of the Z8 and I'm really taken with its looks and the fact its a Symbian device!
I'm just about to go out and get an N95 but just wondered if this thing will suffice just as well? Two things I'm after really - I do want my phone to be able to run some kind of sat nav software. I was going to install Co-Pilot on the N95 so I coud use its internal GPS receiver, but I do already have an external device which I could use with the Z8.
Secondly, I did want a higher mp camera on a phone so I could do away away with my ( antiquated ) 2mp digital camera, but then, if I got the Z8 I could treat myself to a dedicated 5mp digi camera which are pretty cheap these days anyway.
I'm struggling to get a free N95 for my preferred tariff ( 35pm ) whereas I know I can get the z8 for free on that same tariff.
I really like the look of the Z8 and the fact thats its far slimmer than the N95. What it lacks in power with the N95 I could live with .
Any views?
Im about to renew my contract and am in the exact same situation as you.
I have read all the reviews about both phones and i have played with the N95 as a few mates have got them. When i 1st saw the N95 i thought that was defo going be my next phone, but now im not so sure.
I think im going to go for the Z8, purely because of its looks and uniqueness. I have always gone for Nokias in the past and currently have a N73 but it hasnt impressed me too much other than the camera. So i recon i fancy a change.
Shame the Z8 is only a 2mp camera as that is the only downside i can see really, would be perfect if it was 3mp!
I too have a external GPS box, would be interested to know if there are any sat nav programs which will work on the Z8, as i hear that TomTom currently does not....
Well I guess I bottled it....
I went for an N95 in the end ( on Orange ) got the phone for free on a 35 pm tariff.
In the end, it was two things that made me stick with the original decision 0 the fact that I can run sat nav on the N95 - just ordered a copy of Co-Pilot ( which runs off the internal GPS device ) and the fact that I can have a5mp camera.
Good luck with your choice Matt.
