There shouldn't be any need to install anything yourself - in my experience Windows XP and Vista have all managed to install built-in drivers for mass storage device automatically when the phone is connected in that mode.

I only have experience with 32bit Windows versions though, are you using Vista 64bit by any chance?

no 32bit it connects to pc suite fine its as soon as i go into mass storage mode that the problem starts

Ensure you have the latest "vista compatible" version.

If that still gives you grief .. can you identify any error messages that appear.
😊

That's just a link to download PC Suite...... and there's is only one version that's compatible with 2k/xp/vista.

He can already connect to PC Suite fine, so obviously there's no need to install that again.

In any case, Vista can work with N95's mass storage mode automatically without installing anything, so this really shouldn't be happening...

Have you tried connecting to a different USB port?

Without one it's not a mass storage device!

I'm sure he does.

If he doesn't, the phone will refuse to connect in mass storage mode at all, and will just keep asking for a different mode to be selected - Vista won't even get to see the new device at all, let along give any errors.
