Does anyone know when the P800 will be available in US?

this is a dumb question but..

If i buy the phone from UAE, it should still work in US right?

Thanks for putting up with my ignorance.

Regards,
Cire

It's a tri-band phone - so GSM 900/1800/1900 - and 1900 is what they use in the US. 😉

So it should work - but bring along your existing sim card at try it in the phone - since som old sim cards can give problems.

It depends, non of the US GSM providers I've heard of suppy sim cards to thier phones. In the US the provider programs the phone with your number (as far as I know). So even if you would buy a phone in Europe and take it with you to the US it will only work if you have a european subscribtion with a sim card.

Otherwise the phone works perfectly in the US. I used it there for two weeks and I could even get GPRS when I was connected to AT&T.

Untrue...the phones are not programmed with the # in the US. US Cingular, AT&T, and T-Mobile offer SIM cards. I have swapped US Cingular, T-Mobile, and AT&T sim's out of my p800 several times without a problem.

I think you are thinking of US CDMA / CDMA2000 Networks. They do program your number with your phone. But GSM is the same here as anywhere else, just on another frequency.

I bought my P800 in Sweden, and use it on the Cingular network here in North Carolina just fine... GPRS and all. Too bad the GPRS here is ungodly expensive and MMS is completely unknown.
