Hi,

i got my 6110 Navigator this week and I noticed the gps showing incorrect position. it seems to have quite an offset. especially height wise. it shows about 80m more than it should. Anybody else notice this? Anyway to "calibrate"?

Thanks

Hi,

i used the GPS-Data program which comes with S60 and had AGPS and net-based turned on

You say supplied with S60, Im not sure what this is called? Had a look on my phone (6110 navigator, same as yours) but cant find anything other than route66, which is bundled with the phone.

Im looking in route66 but cant see anything related to elevation/height.

Could you tell me where in the menu is the software is your using? Like menu button-applications-etc.

I now seem to get a decent lock even without using AGPS, perhaps your unit is faulty.

Also, where have you been trying to get a lock? Outside, in a builtup area?

Edit: poked around in route66 software and I found the height. Ive no idea if its right, as I have nothing to go by.

How do you know its 80odd m too high (i.e. what are you going by - map etc).

Hi,

I took the reference height from Google Earth. The GPS-Data program is in the Applications folder between "Points of Reference" and "Welcome"
Seems the GPS is easily confused by metal buildings. I'll try again tomorow at work.
But anyhow i noticed a systematic offset between route 66 and real life. Going south the instructions were slightly late going north they were early.
Is there a way to sort of calibrate?

Thanks

Ive looked and looked and cannot find any option Im afraid. It looks like you will have to ask nokia (dont hold your breath) or return it to where you got it from.

I know its not easy to do, perhaps you can get someone to look for you, but are you sure its early/late? Ive found that the maps and position tend to be right, but route 66 doesnt seem to like to be consistant in telling you what to do (another reason I want to ditch it).
