Having upgraded the firmware to v12 it seems the version of Nokia Maps installed is still the old one (v3.0 wk23 b01).
Under Settings there's no option to select locating method (ie previously there was internal GPS, bluetooth GPS and network). Now none of these appear at all and certainly no mention of A-GPS.
Which leads me to believe this is the old Maps application. I've tried downloading the application update from Smart2Go (choosing the N73i) but I get an "update error" and it won't upgrade.
Any suggestions?

Hi ffcphone,
The Nokia Maps on the N95 haven't been updated or changed with the firmware upgrade to V12. It's still the same Nokia Maps version.
The adjustment for the GPS is now located under "Tools" -> "Adjustments/Settings" -> "General" and then you use the last one "Position".
There you can select whether to use A-GPS and the internal or bluetooth GPS.
Today I deleted the maps I had on my phone and downloaded them again via Nokia Maps Software. And I found, they have been updated! In the town where my parents live, there is a new motorway exist and some complete new roads. Now they are on the map. 😊
The road was finished and oppend about 3-4 months ago.
When I downloaded the map from Nokia 3 weeks ago, the new motorway exit was not on the map yet. But it is is! 😊
So updates on the maps are released from time to time. So it is a good idea to delete the maps on your phone and to download them again, after some time. 😊
Thanks for the prompt reply. It would appear things are not as they seem!
Yesterday I changed the product code of my N95 to be Euro1 Plum and then downloaded the v12 firmware update from NSU.
My version of Nokia Maps, as revealed in the About menu, is v3.0 wk23 b01 as indicated above.
I do not have a Tools menu anywhere. I have Settings but contains only 3 options none of which allows location choices.
It would therefore seem Nokia Maps hasn't been updated on my product code or Nokia have changed the version of maps supplied.
I don't particularly want to do a hard reset as I suspect the firmware upgrade took care of all that anyway.
A mystery and a very annoying one at that!

Once again, 'tools\settings..' is not located from N.Maps. It's in phone menu. This was same in firmware 10.x, 11.x. And N.Maps shall be same version as before update since it's not updated in 12.x.

Apologies. My mistake. Yes I've located it now. Never noticed this Positioning menu before!

Nothing to apologize for 😉
