So I uhh, kinda performed a master reset on a Z8 without realising the battery was low. now it just shows moto logo and restarts infinitely. Is there any way to fix this? I'm guessing I can get it to receive new firmware, but I can't find firmware for it anywhere.
any help would be most appreciated.
just another thought, if I had another one, could I backup the firmware from that and then upload it to the broken one?
anybody tried something like this before?

Sorry, but you cannot backup the firmware of one Z8 and restore it to another one.
As for your issue, try removing the memory card, as any software you loaded on there may be looking for files that were zapped when you did the master reset - some boot-time apps can cause this type of problem.
If no joy there, remove the battery, insert the charger, then insert the battery. That should start it charging in off mode - leave it for a while then try booting it up again.
Let us know how you get on, and also, why was the master reset needed in the first place?
plinkykev, thanks very much for your reply.
It's been charging overnight, managed to get it all the way to an insert sim window, but it still won't fully boot.
As to why I needed to reset it - I work for a company I shall not name, which is in the business of purchasing phones from people who do not want them, and selling them to people who do. A master reset is required on all items to remove any data left on there by the previous user.
We do have specific guidelines which state that a master reset should not be performed on a device with low battery, as it can cause precisely these problems, however, in this case I made an error in reading the indicator (it was pink, with all the neon i thought that was the standard colour for power, and the icon was beveled outwards, I thought it was displaying full charge, in actual fact it was empty) but I also noticed that in the Z8 manual there is no warning about this, so it's possible that other people may make the same error (not going to happen much, but a warning would be nice).
You say I can't copy the firmware from one to another, does this mean I also can't download the firmware from the internet and upload it via usb cable?
once again, thanks very much for your reply and any further help would be greatly appreciated.
