I suspect it must be very soon in the UK. www.expansys.co.uk have prices for the official release UK version. 528 SIM free & 293 with an O2 contract. They would not have put the prices on-line if they were not going to sell them for those prices. Also says they are still expecting them at the end of Jan.
Getting excited Gazcart?
Why is everything more expensive in the UK then in other countries?
In most countries where the p800 is already released its price is arround 800 eur sim free.
528 is 770 Euros so it is not that far off.

Sorry,i just realised that when i saw the topic reply in my inbox 😃
carphone warehouse have a release date of february 2003. that price (with connection) would seem reasonable. a guy from phones4u thought it would be around 250-280 with contract and that was in november. it'll be interesting to see which other networks offer.
Having tried to setup mine on Voda and talked to people within Sony about the phone, there are a fair number of network issues that are left to be resolved (with Voda at least). Off the record I'd expect to see it late 1st / early 2nd quarter.

Guest. You don't really say who you are and who you know to give us a judgement we can believe. Give us more info. Personally I'd rather believe what I read on expansys's website.

Remember Expansys are selling them 'sim free' therefore can sell them as soon as SE release them, not Vodafone/Orange/O2/T-Mobile, there is no testing to be done if it hasn't come from a Network Provider.
It may be available from SE before you can get it on a Network, but it also may have the same issues that the Providers are trying to fix right now.
The O2 connections they provide isn't a standard ones, you have the choice of 2 tarrifs, one lasts 12 months the other 24 months both have the same call charges, but from looking on their website both don't include any 'free' time at all, so it's a bit like the 'buisness tarrtif' and they knock a bit of money off the 'sim free' phone.
If any of that makes sense. 😊
That makes sense about the contracts. But would SE release it if the Networks hadn't fully tested it? Surely one of the reasons it has taken so long to get released is because they didn't want a "buggy" phone on the market. Also when the Networks have issues with the phone wouldn't the firmware need upgrading to solve the problems? For example, do Orange say - "we aren't happy with such and such", then SE look at the firmware and change it, then send the new firmware to all the Networks, for a new round of testing? Also at what point do SE say "yes we will release now", because Orange & T-mobile may say "Yes we are happy", but O2 and Vodaphone say "No we aren't happy yet". Readng the forums it seems as if everyone has the same firmware.
