I bought a used N80. This one seems slow. It takes a whilte to open up messages. Is that normal? When I say while. It's like... 2 seconds.
Right now I can't use the default web browser. It just won't load the application. I will try to flash it to the IE soon. If it's still like this... I will try and return it. They said I can't return it though. They can only exchange it if it can't be fixed. Technically... If it's still slow.. It can't be fixed, right?

Try a Hard Reset.
Make sure you backed up everything before reset, or you'll loose all your contatcs and other stuff.
After back up, turn your phone off.
Then turn your phone on quickly and press and HOLD "green button" + 3 + *, press and hold together and keep pressing until phone starts.
If your phone asks for you to input date/time, you did a sucessful hard reset.
I always do it after a firmware upgrade. It's totally secure, you won't hurt you phone doing it.
You won't lose warranty. Hard Reset simply remove all extra app, contacts, messages,custom configs..., and reconfigure Symbian to its default settings.
I alreayd did the first time I got it. Although not that method. I did the *#blah blah#
The *#blah blah# only change your settings back to default.
"green" + 3 + * do a something like a "format".
Oh. That's not it. I saw the one that restores it back to factory settings. There's also a hard one that reformats.
It's alright. I updated my firmware. Seems better. I just dont like it when the default "web" browser crashes sometimes. Maybe I should use Opera Mini?
My web browser never crashed... but I don't use it everytime, so I'm not the right person to talk about it..
But now that you've updated firmware, I hope it's faster!

I'm starting to think it didn't help much. Sometimes I can't even open certain applications(usually the WLAN wizard). I have to turn off/on my cellphone to open it up. Same thing with Truphone.
there is a fix available for the n80 to speed up sms messaging. Go to the nokia web site and you can download it.

Maybe there's a problem with your phone.
yeah, it can seem a bit slow in comparison to non smart phones...
and yeah, go get Opera 4 beta... its nice.
This is a known issue, there is a patch can a lot speed up the reponse on using SMS.
