same here nsu not allowin me to update, says connection to phone lost. but phone is workin fine. i tried 5 times like idiot. lol

did it work for any 1?

You don't download the firmware directly. You have to use Nokia's Software Updater application which downloads and installs the firmware for you. Visit your local Nokia website and look for Software Updates. All the instructions are there.

i have the latest music edition v4 firmware

tryed installing this for ages still no joy

any 1 else tryed??

ive tryed both the product codes still no joy

would like it as its a smaller install then the music version so it will leave more phone memory free for me which is handy as i like to install some apps to my phone as when i take the memory card out i dont have to install the untrusted ones again 😊 and i dont need the two extra themes etc that consumes the phones memory

any1 got any idears?? tryed loads of stuff

all it does it disconnect from nsu and ask me to try again

weird

I have tested upgrading from ME to IE firmware.
If you want a successful update, you should
uninstall PC Suite (6.84). Then download
the latest NSU with the language region code
you like and install the NSU without PC Suite.
You can use Nemesis (NSS) to change the code
at the phone before you run the normal firmware
update.

Somehow the PC Suite 6.84 failed to update
the firmware.

The upgrade was done using NSU frm the PC Suite itself. Though a lot of times the NSU did not start..just go to the task manager and close the app once..n then start it again..works fine...the upgrade is 76.5MB and the product code used was 0539239. There is one point missin in most of the posts though...in NSS u have to enable the product code option n then enter the new product code and click on write..else the product code will not change...u can check the product code of ur mobile by clicking on read..i got a Motorola S9 headset and its workin like a charm..good stuff frm nokia!

hiya mate

i think youre talking about the new music firmware the internet edition is only about 66mb in size

the new music edition is defently a++ though

to me it seems impossible to upgrade from the new music edition to the new internet edition

has anyone else had any joy??

and hackdesign maybe you could give some clearer instructions 😊

thanks mate

Hi, the following are the steps you may like to try.

This is for you if you can not use PC Suite 6.84
to flash the firmware from N73 ME to IE.
(BTW, i believed that the PC Suite 6.84 will
cause connection to WiFi hang or the system
will hang during system shutdown).

1. Use NSS to read the phone info just to confirm
that the right region code of your phone is still
there. In your reply, i think it is either 0539366
or 0539364? If not, please change it to 0539366
for China/HK IE edition (i am using this as the example)

2. Assuming you're using WindowXP English version,
and wanted to flash to a China/HK IE firmware.

3. Download the NSU with 0539366 (IE firmware for
China/HK) in English version, not the chinese version.
You should get the language version same with your
WindowsXP.

4. Uninstall PC Suite 6.84, as it is not always possible to
update the firmware with NSU + PC Suite 6.84, restart
your computer.

5. Backup all the phone content to your memory card from
your N73. I have noticed some temporary files in my
memord card, so would encourage you to have plenty of
space in your card before performing the update.

Make sure A: You have enough battery for your phone and
B: Your computer/notebook is connected to a
main source, not with battery only. This is
because some power saving/screen
safer application may distract you from
doing the update.

6. Run the NSU application. You will be prompted to make
sure you've backup your valuable data into PC or memory
card. Proceed if you have done so.

7. Because a succesfull update to IE firmware will change
the default theme, you may suddenly forgot your PIN
code. This PIN code is the same of your PIN code by
turning off and on of your N73 now.

Please write it down or make sure you remember it, as
this is the first question your new N73IE will ask you.

8. Please proceed to update the firmware if you have carry
out all the precaution.

9. One more note for you: IE firmware is about 67MB in
size, during the update, your phone may already go to
power saving mode and the screen on your phone
is very dim. Please do not touch your phone and the
cable. You should look at your computer's screen now as
it has many useful information for you.

10. The progress bar will indicate the percentage of the
update, and at the end of it, you will notice some
notification on your computer system tray, such as
disconnected, new device found etc. The total
completion is actually a message appear on your
computer screen telling you it is completed.
Of course, if you put your phone together, you may
notice under the very dim screen is a testing message
and then phone will reset with a prompt asking you to
enter the PIN code.

11. I wish you success, and welcome to N73IE edition.
You can now re-install the PC Suite 6.84, all your
setting will be remain, but the invoke at WindowsXP
start-up is set by default (i don't that).

12. After adjusting the location, time and date etc on your
phone, you may like to adjust the audio setting (stereo
widdening is off by default), restore your memory
card contents, and also try to download and install the
3D Snake?? I find the camera sound a lot louder, so
sometimes i may mute the sound by personalize
the general profile --> [Warning off]

13. Sometimes, if you like to install and remove a lot of
application, you may accidentally remove some plug-in.
The NSU can help you to re-install the new firmware
(repair), but if you're using PC Suite, you may not able
to do it.

If you asked me personally, it is worth the effort, i am very
happy with it. Any my father only send me Chinese sms, the original firmware can not display it. If Nokia has spent a lot of money for this newer firmware, why not we take the chance to update it, right😊

Hi HackedAgain i tried like u did. changed product code, downloaded nsu with HK product code.

but same error. connection to the phone lost :con?

i upgraded normal N73 to V 4.0727.2.2.1 from v3
yes phone disconnects after 2 minutes when i try to upgrade to IE. dont know why

Hi, i upgraded from ME version 3.07.xx to IE v4.07.
Just wanted to check with you how is your USB cable
connection to your phone?

Sorry i hope this is not a silly question. The reason
i asked is because if you're connecting through older
USB port, or USB hub, may be the USB port is not having
enough power for the connection.

I am using a notebook with USB2.0 port, so you might
want to disconnect other USB devices (probably except mouse) from your computer before you perform the update.
Firmware flashing normally consume more power then
usual PC Suite sync even using the same USB port.

nah its nothing to do with the connection
mine didnt work as iam upgrading from the music edition v4 to internet edition v4 there is only one number in the firmware string that is different so maybe this is why
i notice you say you upgraded from music edition v3 to internet edition v4 this is why yours worked ok hack design

thanks for your efforts though buddy

vitaminme wrote:i tried but same. phone reboots. same issue as above. :con?

it wont work mate seriously ive tryed loads everyway possible even reformatted c drive and tryed as i love to test new firmwares out and report back on them

new joy anywhat way

hackdesign allready said he updated from music edition v3 to internet edition v4 hes not updating from music edition v4 to internet edition v4

its weird cus nokia site says its there and starts to update the phone screen crashes and nokia screen comes up on phone

maybe with this latest v4 music you JUST CANT update to the internet edition v4

maybe nokia are slowly working on this product changing thing ie nsu tells you have different firmware code installed allready says nope no way you shouldnt even have this update you have music edition not internet edition crash bang wallop update cancelled before it bricks your phone

just a thought as i updated from n73 normal v4 to n73 music v4 ok and there is only one difference in that firmware string but with this one it wont let me and there is only one difference in this firmware string as well hummmmm weird

maybe they are slowly carcking t guys check their website they know people are doing it and it must be costing them a bit of money ie peopke buying n73 normal yet updating it and getting the music edition must have cut the sales of the music edition a bit dont you think

any1 else got any other idears iam puzzled 😊
