N70 - Mail For Exchange Install Issues — Nokia N70, N72 and N90

I will admit right off the bat that I am a complete newb when it comes to S60 devices. I have just switched from an HTC Wizard WM6 device to a Nokia N70. I am trying to install Mail for Exchange and am receiving 2 different errors.

1. If I attempt to install from either the MMC or direct from phone storage I receive an error:
File Manager: Unknown file format

2. If I attempt to open the file direct from the Nokia site I receive an error:
Web: Unknown File Format

This happens with both versions 1.3 and 1.6. I have searched the forums but do not see anything exactly relating to my issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Reason is: The N70 is based on an older S60 version (v2.8 = S60 2nd Edition Feature Pack 3), and the application is for a newer S60 version (S60 3rd Edition) and will never install/run on the N70.

And I take it that the S60 3rd Edition OS cannot be ported to the N70?

Correct; no way to get/run S60 3rd Ed. on the N70.

Any recommendations on another client app I can use. Currently I am using ProfiMail which seems to work well enough for mail, but I am really interested in my contacts and calendar events. I would prefer not to use a desktop redirector if possible.
