How to turn off camera tones on n73?

Hey everyone,

My nokia n73 so far has been problem free, but for some reason I can't turn off camera tones 😡

I did come research on google, and read through many different forums, they all said. Put the phone on SILENT (or stun mode as I like to call it), and turn off WARNING TONES.

Which I did, but still doesn't work even with SILENT mode and WARNING TONES off, the loud sound when clicking a photo or taking a video still comes, and it really is annoying.

Can someone help me pls  would be ever so grateful

Just so you know my firmware is:

v 3.0704.1.0.1
19-01-2007
RM-133

I have the N75, and as all other Nokia Symbian phones, the silent profile has always silenced my camera. It might be a regional thing. Maybe in other countries, you can't silence the photo sound. Maybe relating to privacy laws or something?

I have the same problem. I just purchased the N73 and am liking it so far, except of course the unstoppable camera sound, which is so annoying that it might be a deal-breaker for me, as I bought this phone mainly because of its camera feature. With warning tones off, and even in silent mode, the camera sound is still there. I tried switching firmware to different regions, but none have helped. I figured I should ask for fresh help, as much of the advice I followed seems to refer to dated firmware.

Is there some clever way to turn off the camera sound? (Silent mode/warning tones off does not help, but thanks...)
Do I have to change firmware to a different region?
Do I have to change the region code in my phone in order to update the firmware to a different region?

Now I am getting picky, but I kinda want to upgrade to the Music Edition firmware, and I want my phone to be able to use A2DP and higher than 2GB MiniSD cards. Is there a way that I can accomplish these things (as well as my holy grail: a silent camera) in a single firmware update? Dare I dream of using my phone to its fullest potential? Please share your knowledge and experience.

It is a regional thing, to do with privacy laws etc., but I don't know for sure which regions are affected. I do know that if you change your code to 0537289 (Euro 1) & install the latest firmware (4.0727.2.2.1) you will have the music edition & be able to turn off the warning tones.

I changed my phone's product code to 0537289, but when I use NSU it tells me that there is no firmware update available. Are there different versions of NSU for different regions? I would appreciate any advice you can give me.

My phone is the Music Edition with the product code 0537289.

Latest firmware is V4.0727.2.2.1.

If I press the # key on the phone for 2 seconds it changes to silent mode which stops the camera sound.

If I go to Tools/Profiles/General/Personalise/Warning Tones, set to off, this also kills the camera sound.
