Hey all 😊 first time post and i've pretty much just registered.

Seems like an awesome community here - have already used this forum to upgrade the firmware on my N95, previously using the rubbish orange firmware 😊

Anyway why i'm here is because when i'm on the internet i cannot download movies, whether it's using the in built browser or opera. I have no idea why it won't as on my N93 whenever it says something like "right click here to save video" i just clicked it and it downloaded the movie no bother.

But if i try the same thing on the 95 it just shows an error saying not supported!, it allows me to save images but not videos. I've tried using both wi-fi and 3g but both give the same message? Has anyone got any idea as to why it won't let me? Any help will be greatly appreciated 😊

Oh and sorry for any typing errors - the N95's keyboard is alot worse for typing than my old N93 😊

Welcome!

The N95's built-in browser won't let you access (or save) file types it doesn't recognize, including movies that the N95 can't play.

You state "Opera", but I assume you mean Opera Mini, as the full-blown Opera will happily let you save unrecognized file types.

Indeed. Opera-mini is java based and therefore cannot access the phones memory in order to save. Opera mobile is a SIS installed app and will happily save any and all files even if it doesn't recognise them. Unfortunately Opera Mobile is not free but it is well worth the money in my opinion

Ah! Thanks for the replies people, greatly appreciated 😊

I knew this would be a good community 😃

Was it the same on the N93? I think I had the full Opera on that then as that let me d/l WMV's, would the built-in browser not let me d/l WMV's on the N93 as well?

Oh and one more question (Sorry lol):

Is there any media players for the N95 other than realplayer? I mean is there any media player able to play anything other than .3gpp and MP4's?

Like Divx or WMV?

Thanks in advance Guys (and girls?)

DivX is available for the N95, i use it myself, just go to the DivX website and download it

HTH

Nick

You mean I can just go to the Divx website and install the Divx player on the N95? That's pretty cool if true 😊

I'll try it later on tonight as I get free unlimited (1,000mb) web access from 6 - 6 a month 😊

Thanks for the info. mate 😃

You can also download the Divx player directly to your phone via WAP or to your computer from here for free:-

If, when installing you recieve the message "Certificate Expired" just go to menu, select Clock > Options > Settings and change the year to 2006 and then install. Don't forget to reset your date back to 2007 and enable Auto-update if you use it.

Greetings from soggy Gloucester!!!

^^^Thank you very much for that! Will try it later 😊

Will this allow me to view WMV's on the phone without having to convert them first? Or is that impossible on anything but a Windows O/S Smartphone?

Sorry for my idiocy 😃
