v12 Firmware - bluetooth connection?

6 replies · 2,063 views · Started 30 July 2007

I recently updated my firmware to v12 on my Nokia N95, although I did have to change my product code to do this as I have an Orange handset.

The phone works better now in every way, however, the bluetooth has been affected.

I can send files via bluetooth but when someone tries to send me a file via bluetooth I get the normal message about accepting the file, when I click 'Yes' two brackets light up, one either side of the Bluetooth sign and the transfer does not happen. The phones that are sending me the file get a message on their phone stating, 'waiting for Nokia N95 to accept transfer'...although I already did accept the transfer.

Then I have to go to the Bluetooth option to cancel the Bluetooth mode but my phone then states that I am connected to the other device and cancelling can lose the data...even though nothing is happening with the transfer.

For the record this happens with videos, pictures and music. Is this a problem with the v12 firmware or is my phone broke? It must be related to the firmware, it was fine beforehand.

PS: The date seperator is at / so thats not a factor.

Please help!

I just tried with my v12 N95. I could send files via Bluetooth to it just fine. No problems.

Not that it's much help, but I don't have any problems with Bluetooth and v12.

Will Bluetooth work on your computer with file transfer and with the Nokia Phone Browser?

Have you tried pairing with the phone you want to accept the transfer from to see if that works?

Thanks people for your feedback.

Seeing as you both have not had problems on v12 with your bluetooth I did a reset of the phone and it now seems to be working....dont know what was wrong with it!

For the record it didnt work when the phones were paired together or not paired together...but now all seems fine, will let you know if any further problems.

Thanks again

Glad it's working for you.

Like WiFi, I've always found that Bluetooth works by the rules of some sort of smoke and mirrors black art, rather than by any sort of logic.

A reset is what I would have recommended next anyway.

But to try and find the original cause of the problem, please answer a question.

Did you perform a RESTORE operation after the FW upgrade?

I dont believe I did restore the phone settings as I had to go back on the phone and set it up as I did when I bought the phone. I just saved as much as possible to the memory card and then updated my contacts from the pc suite....
