though i switch off my WLAN scanning off, I'm still getting the 4 box sign on my phone (right top corner) what does it means? is it my WLAN is on ?? :con?

Switching the scanning off merely stops it scanning for new WLANs. It won't disconnect them. Hold down the red (hang up) icon to disconnect or alternatively click on WLAN scanning and disconnect that way (you'll have to disable WLAN scanning again after this!
If the four boxes are there I would assume that it is still on. I get that when i have finished using Windows Live. I have to go to the main screen and click on WLAN and then click the off, go back to MSN and open n close it so I no longer get the icon on my phone!!!
