Nokia N95 8Gb Version

I see this gets a passing mention mention on the MR news page when they talk about the upcoming Nokia event on the 29th August. Hopefully we will hear about the N81 & N82 & the 5200/5300 in black versions as well.

The 8Gb version will be a lot as you see the US version of the N95 to be just with a few added extras.

Especially look at what badger posts on this thread for more info as he knows what he is talking about believe me.

Interesting, can you give the jist of it? Thats a lot to wade through.

Surpising how much of a jump in memory that is, especially for nokia. Nokia dont have a great history for putting a decent amount of memory in phones, even the hard drive models didnt have much.

Yea, I meant considering it was a micro hard drive and not memory, it wasnt much. I had an MP3 player with a microdrive the same dimensions, which was 20GB and that was at least as old as those.

Still, I must admit the memory has never bothered me and hopefully wont if they keep improving it.

I got a reply back from nokia the other day about the type of phone I suggested (on another thread, I wont bore you), they want me to fill in a form saying it was my idea etc.

Im not bothered about that, I simply want them to build the thing!😊

-Bigger memory possible 8Gb internal.
-Bigger battery possible.
-Re-design of camera lens cover-removal of lens cover.
-Multimedia button re-design-this part is unclear.
-Possible bigger screen.
-Possible new music software.
-New colour-black.

Although I dont actually have one, its kinda mixed.

On one hand, I feel 8GB cards are a while in coming out, and theres no certainty that the N95 will support them. Theres no reason why not, but you never know.

On the flipside, having removable memory can be very handy. Im sure some people have different cards for different things. i.e. music on one, and satnav/large apps on another.

Whichever, its still good to see nokia starting to put large memory in the phones at last.

I do feel this might be in response to the iphone. If thats the case, its the first time the iphone has actually doe anything worthwhile 😃

It would be nice if the new N95 came with both the large internal memory & a memory card slot, unfortunately this is highly unlikely to happen.

As an aside the N81 it seems will be coming in two versions one with a fixed 8GB internal memory & one with a 'standard' internal memory but with a memory card slot.

Interesting link here, as well as confirming what I already mentioned it seems this new N95 will be gaining a lot of extra RAM & this is the big one a VGA screen.

Unfortunately the stuff from the FCC doesn't confirm if either of these upgrades are present in the 8GB version.

I think if you buy the new housing it would. It will be available on ebay shortly after the phone is release if it is eventually released that is.

If they do release this improved version the existing N95 owners will possible feel a bit short changed. I wouldnt want to lose the Micro SD slot though thats for sure!!

Just to add if it is a VGA screen and possibly bigger you instantly have added drain on the larger battery.
VGA TV out would be great mind!!
