Yes a working torch app would be very handy.
I want a torch app that works too, even my old 3200 had a little LED torch. Why cant we turn on the white light to be a torch?
I contacted Nokia support asking about this, they said something like:
"The nokia N95 does not support this feature".
Can't someone who knows the symbian OS code an app to turn on the light?

They would wouldn't they. Can you imagine how many phones would be returned to Nokia service centres for LED replacement because they have failed due to prolonged use? Nokia certainly would not "support" this function.

... but the light shines rather very badly, in red colour.
We have plenty of software to turn the red light on, but we need the white one.
im pretty sure the "white light" is a flash and not an LED... I had a nokia n73 which had a xenon flash which could get decent pictures in low light but could not keep its light on... Now I have a nokia n93 which has an LED flash which is rubbish in low light but can keep its light on
im pretty sure this is why it cant be turned on to stay on
only downfall is the n95 doesnt have a xenon flash!....white light coders?
maybe a hardware thing..trigger led? god knows..but if it were possible to turn that (minor led) on....im sure it would have been done instead of red one....hmmm, red one is useless to me...il wait patiently!
oh... my bad... i was sure the n95 would have the same flash as the n73... woops, nvm then
ignore me :X
I remember back in my Nokia 6600 days the only torch app was to blank the entire screen with White and setting up the highest brightness and lowest contrast that you can do. This was enough for most things.
You should be able to do something similar to this so that you dont risk screwing up the LED light for your normal photography..

The N73 doesn't have a xeon flash. The only phones with xeon flashes to date have been the Sony-Ericsson K800 and K810. The N73 has an LED flash very similar to the N95.
... i musta been gettin mixed up because the release of the k800 and n73 were about the same time... obviously imprinted in my mind wrong... my bad!!! again...
STILL the LED flash in the n73/n95 is a better flash then the LED light in the n93... that point still stands...
