I'm onto my second N95 and both handsets appear to have occasional problems with the microphone and speaker. With the first handset, the person on the other end would often not be able to hear me at all, and I'd experience moments of silence during phone conversations. I returned that handset to o2 and was given a replacement, but now this handset is also giving me similar problems.
People I call using the phone have reported feedback noises, high pitched garbled sounds, silence, and apparently sometimes I sound as if I'm calling whilst under water. Similarly, from the speaker I will hear an echo of my own voice when talking and pauses were the line has gone silent and I can't hear the caller. These problems only happen once in a while, the rest of the time the microphone and speaker seems to work fine.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues? I'm just not sure whether to send it back to o2 again and get another replacement or if this is a problem common to all N95s, in which case a replacement is likely to be just the same.
Is this just me then? Everyone else's earpiece/microphones always worked fine? In that case I will definitely return it...
What is your reception like?
I noticed something wierd that happened to me once, where I heard bizarre noises, and it was where the phone went from 3G to 2G and then only had 1bar left of reception, and then silence for about a second, and then call dropped. So I blamed it all on bad reception, and have only heard the wierd noises once (this is my first 3G phone too, using normal GSM for 10years prior to this, and certainly heard some noises in 10years of GSM usage, but never like this one, it was like the persons voice was going through a "Dalek" processor for 5seconds).
reception is normally showing at full strength, but you make a good point. I've never thought to keep track of the reception when these problems occur....so it's quite possible that that could have something to do with it. Still, think I will return the handset as it seems like these faults are not common. Maybe handset number 3 will bring me more luck!
Usually, this issue occurs when 3G signal is bad in your area. What you need to do is switch your network to 2G or GSM mode in order to resolve the garbled call problem.. Thanks
