Could it be a temporary problem with the network? Try to re-boot and try to connect...it sometimes happens to me! 😃
I can still get access via either pop3.vizzavi.net
or is that pop.vizzavi.net emailsare comming through
without any problem.
Although i've had to change all my email POP3 account
settings recently for the outgoing SMTP to point
to my ISP/Server of my sim card. As my
mail was not getting sent. Now there is no problem
sending or receiving on my communicator.
😮
I am using the Mviva connection to dial out instead of the vodafone one, and I can now access my emails. What has Vodafone done different?
Kind Regards
Nick
I got these settings sent to me when I asked Vodafone for some help on the issue of accessing the internet via GSM (or CSD - what does that stand for?);
CSD internet access
Internet access:
Dial up:+447836900884
username:
password: user
This works fine for me and it comes out of my free minutes.
CSD - Circuit Switched Data
HSCSD - High Speed Circuit Switched Data
GPRS - General Packet Radio Service
TANKERx
I had those setting also sent from vodafone couple months ago, they use to work, but not anymore. I will call them about tomorrow
Very Weird as this is the first problem with my 9210i
N
Vodafone have an alternative set of access number, and now it works with vodafone.

If you are on payg then these settings will give you ISDN v.110 @ 38400kbs thats 3 time slots. Shame it aint ISDN v.120 but may be some day.
.
These work in the uk i'm not sure about elsewhere.
.

vodafone
.
These settings i used to use on my old 9000, 9110i and now for ages my 9210i faster than other networks.
.
price plan i have is the Original and costs me 2p for data calls from 6pm-8am also the same time period 6pm-8am gives 2p calls too land line numbers in the uk.
.
Free answer phone 24hrs a day.
.
Draw back if you can call it that. A charge of, if I remeber correctly 12p or 16p a day service charge.
.
This can be done from yourPAYG sim by dialling 191 from your vodafone mobile. It costs last I checked 7 for swapping service plan to the original service plan. It is taken from you ballance on your simPAYG only.
.
Beware that the new Vodafone mail service mucks about with the lower prices of the original service plan. I have allready being told that it will make your free 24hr a answer phone chargable at 10p forever and maybe other bad side effects.
.
I have two vodafone sims one on original and the other onNextstep. I have got my vodafone mail alerts and other features registered to myNextstep service plan as that costs 10p a min to start with.
.
By using the above settings you should have no future problems with VodafoneMail.
.
Getting Internet settings fromVodafone is the same as getting blood from a stone........
.
As vodafone keep telling me we don't support the 92xx series. In fact The other british major networks have said the same!! I can't understand why?
.
Our 92xx Nokia smartphones are the Best and that's a Fact.
I did write a solution here but I can't see it now!!.
So maybe me writting this here will jolt it back into the system.

Yeh!! that worked.

Thank you very much, they gave me those settings to. I had the old vizzavi numbers sent through their new vodafone system.
I hate the new vodafone mail, but I am on crossover network, where the
voicemail is free (will double check again)
Apologise for delay in replying, but someone has already done so.
Appreciate your comments
Nick
That's nice to hear that you have the problem sorted out now. Yes vodafone mail has got some hicups such as using stupid frames on their site which isn't needed especialy as they say it's for us smartphone pda users also.
They could of taken an example of page use from t-mobile,t-email or t-zones for the page layout.
But then again Vodamail lets you access via IMAP4 mail box or pop3 for free. Its the IMAP4 that I like best having all my mail folders viewable and workable from my 9210i Messaging screen.
I would be intrested if any other forum readers here know of any other free UK based IMAP4 email servers as I thinking IMAP4 is soooooo much better than pop3.
I surf the net for 😃 FREE 😃 on Vodafone, well when I mean free, I mean for 29 a year I 😃 get 600 mins 😃 free a month, time restriction is 7pm to 7am to vodafone and landlines also including all weekends. This also includes carry over for minutes not used! 😃 😃
I have a few of these very special sim cards which give me a total of 1800 minutes free a month, that's about 30 hours 😃 , so its why i'm not that bothered with the slow connection speeds 😃 😃 !
😉
That sound good to me 1800 mins a month whats that service plan called? and is it still available?
Its on the Vodafone off peak tariff, but you can only buy the sim card from a magazine called exchange and mart, you get 600 mins free 😃 a month for 29 😊 😃 a year line rental, total bargin, i've got a few 😃 😃 😃 ! You buy a few! 😉
I used Vodafone Mail pop.vodafone.net for incoming mail to Nokia Communicator 9210 and mail.vizzavi.co.uk for outgoing mail, as their FAQ suggests. Outgoing mail stopped some weeks ago but incoming mail still works. I assume because Vizzavi website says their email service is closed.
I tried frequently smtp.vodafone.net for several weeks for outgoing but no luck. Incoming still works.
What UK ISP you use/recommend for Communicator email?
I use Vodafone for my isp, with the dial up number: 07836900884 (free) 😃
And when I'm dialling through my Orange line its with UK Plus: 08456091370 (5p) 😃
for email I use both vodafone.net and orange.net both of them work perfectly, just register at the mentioned addresses. Orange email is simple and basic voda email has voicemail/ fax stuff very helpful this one!
😉
I still don't know what to do. Connecting to the Internet is not a problem, just outgoing mail.
Nokia Communicator just hangs on "Connecting to 'smtp.vodafone.net'..." and finally declares "Problem sending message. Connection time out." I have tried about dozen times during last few weeks.
Do you use POP3 or IMAP settings at Communicator? Do you use 'smtp.vodafone.net'?
My other settings are propably right because I can log in to the Vodafone Mail and receive and download mail.

I thought only Orange supported High Speed data over GSM?
I still don't know what to do. ..........
http://www.breathe.com/ works with Nokia Communicator
outgoing: smtp.breathe.com
incoming: pophost1.breathe.com
