N95 Freezes in Standby & won't take calls

My two week old N95 is starting to give me grief. I have had a rapid battery drain with a warm phone and so I tried turning off GPS. Today, the charge has stayed OK but at 6pm I found that the phone was frozen. The display was between the standby display and the screen saver - but locked.

I slid the front to the multimedia option and the menu's came up correctly. Going back to the normal phone it was still locked. I then tried calling my number from a land line and it did not ring but went to voice mail. It is sad when a phone fails it's basic function. I had to pull the battery out to regain functionality.

Any ideas of what I should do next?

I have idea what you must do before - post your firmware version 😊
Also installed apps list .. On your place i would format phone (or upgrade firmware, if new available)
and look on its behaviour for a day or two before install anything back.

Sorry about that.
I updated to the latest firmware 12. whe I got the phone
It is an unbranded handset.

Beyond the applications that came with the phone, I added:
TruVOIP,
Mobipocket reader
Solytare
BT Keyboard

I have a GRPS connection and had downloaded maps for the UK.
Bluetooth was switched off.

I have now done a soft reset and not added anything back to see how things go.
