Is it recommended to do software update?

hi

got my n95 yesterday, how do i check which software version i have?

also, if i find it to be out of date, is it recommended to do the software update found at europe.nokia. com /softwareupdate

You can cjeck your firmware-version by typing in the stby-screen *#0000#

With firmware 12, you'll have a faster GPS-fix !

ok, ive got v 11.0.026...is it worth an upgrade?

in order to upgrade this firmware, i take it i have to change phone code and thus invalidate warranty right?

the software update at the link i posted...is this what i need to do?

You'll only have to change prod.code if there ain't any newer firmware out for your code.
Easiest way to check: Run NSU and it will tell you if there is any to update to.
