is this as easy as copying the file onto the memory stick and then playing it through video centre?

which file type is best to put on the phone?

I tried Smartmovie and couldn't once get it to play a film with the audio in sync with the movie.

I just watched the entire Top Gear Polar special on my N95.
Downloaded it in AVI format, ran it through iSquint (Mac-only convertor) to get it into plain ol' MP4 and copied it over to the micro-SD card.
Worked like a charm.

mp4 is definitely the way to go.

Just download and install WinAVI MP4 Convertor.....fastest think I've found for converting to mp4.

Super Convertor is good for all the bells and whistles config options.....but its conversion is sooooo damn slow !!!

Yeah, I find the DIVX player has a couple of issues:
1- audio synch (could be encoding thought)
2- won't play full screen if you use the N95 TV-OUT (get a tiny postage stamp in the middle of the TV screen more often then not).

Realplayer doesn't have either of these issues, but then again you need to re-encode the vid to be realplayer compat (what I wouldn't give for a version of realplayer than supported everything!)
Regards

Sounds good! What sort of size of file are we talking here?

MP4 is the better quality. But using Smart Movie you can pause it and go back to where you left off. Realplayer doesnt let you do that (hoping that someone tells me it can). But only let down with smart movie is that most of the time it isnt in sync :frown:

lol.....isn't "in sync" for you a major point ?

I cant watch stuff if its out..........its way too annoying.....like a dubbed chinese fight flick.

Use mp4 for now but watch out for Core Player (TCPMP) for Symbian.....that will be the dogs dangly bits when it's released.

what about streaming TV?

somebody have clues of how watching TV by WIFI freebee?

looking to play m**://vipmms.canalplus.fr/canalplus/zapping_070111_a.wmv

** = ms

I don't have sync problems with smartmovie either wit divx player (the 2 players are looking the same) it works fine. Smartmovie comes with a converter for your pc.

But doesnt the Nokia PC Suite automatically (or asks first) convert certain file extensions to mp4 format ??

If the film is stored in the My Videos folder and then accessed and played through the Video Centre option then RealPlayer will pick up where it left off.

I'm tried out winAVI
Seems good

However, the file sizes are much different
Can I ask how you do yours?

It defaults to ZjMedia MPEG-4 Encoder for audio and video
and has the check box selected to keep the original size
If using on an n95 I obviously dont need this the original size

can you let me know what setting you use please?
