So, do wep keys need to be padded? Today I was given a 10 char key which I tried to enter as a 128 bit key using ASCII but the phone complains that I should be 13 chars.
So just exactly how is this suppose to work?
I figure it was a wep key because they would be using lowest common denominator.
the key that you have been given is a 64bit encryption key, this is why it has ten digits instead of the 13 digits required to use 128bit encryption.
there is an option to set the encryption when you are adding an accesspoint to the network settings in your handset. menu>tools>settings>connection>access points>new access point>
then once you have got down to the network nittygritty, there is an option wlan security mode, choose wep, then go back and there is an added component called something like wlan security settings, then wep key settings. this is where you choose 64bit 128 bit etc.
hope this helps.
