STRONGLY recommend you don't buy mobile batteries from eBay.

Buy a genuine Nokia replacement and a dual desk charger from an official Nokia dealer / high street store.

Good advice.

But I don't think there's an official Nokia Desk stand for the N95 yet.

I've seen two chinese ones for sale. The cheaper non USB one is not really any good. It holds the phone completely vertical and only the charging pin holds the phone in place.

The dual USB charger/dock is better but the cradle is a tight fit requiring two hands to remove and apparently can't charge and sync at the same time. I think there's a button that does one or the other.

Only problem with that advice is the GENUINE nokia one is rubbish, and the reason for people searching for better.

I get up to 3 days from the Genuine N95 Nokia battery since V12, so to say it's rubbish is a wee but harsh. However I agree Nokia could should have supplied a 1200ma one as standard.

HOWEVER, I honestly don't believe a 6 eBay compatible will be anything close the quality or reliability of the genuine Nokia product.

buy smth in the high middle class price range.... that usualy garanties quality for a appropriate price

You can always try one of those battery extenders/chargers, that work with 4 AA batteries. I would post a link to one but I'm not allowed yet (1st post).

Has anyone tried anything similar? Does it do what it says?

You need to make sure you give the battery a couple of full charge/discharge cycles before it reaches full capacity.

I've purchased a few different ones from ebay with different outcomes. One was faulty but the others were ok. It's a bit hit and miss.

I know how to look after a battery and had the phone 6 months now, I too can get 3 days from it. If I DONT USE IT. With bluetooth on and a bit of use it's dead in a day. Use it for sat nav or browsing or as a 3g modem it's flat quicker than the laptop battery - awful.

I know I could wire it to a car battery and carry it round with me, but that's not right imo. Or wiring it via an 'extender' to another device I had to carry, the point of the N95 is that's it's a convergence device, other dedicated devices do a better job of individual features but it's more to carry. Putting a battery that's shockingly low in ah anyhow, into a multi-in-one device, is a joke.

At least with my HTC Universal I could get a 4300mah battery pack, stuck out at the back but I could use the think all day and night.

I just can't see anything for the N95.

If you want a phone that does lots more besides, get an N95. If you want computing on the move get a device with a much bigger battery, like a laptop or Pocket PC.

My Tomtom Bluetooth GPS unit only lasts three hours between charges, why would the N95 be able to do better with a screen and phone to run too? You can always buy another battery and carry that with you when you need the extra power. Not much different than having a battery twice the size, except you don't have to carry the extra bulk unless you need it.

I charge my phone in the car to and from work and use a charger at work if I want to use it as an MP3 player. I've never had an MP3 player but wouldn't expect it to last more than one day without charging.

You should try a decent mp3 player then, my wife has a 40gb one with lcd screen and it lasts a week of casual use, or something like 20 hours constant, it's slim too!

As for your tomtom bluetooth - it's poor. My 750mah ebay version lasts 12 hours (I regularly run it 6 hours at once and some other journies with no probs).

Usual case of big names giving naff performance and support. As for carrying another battery, this is 2007 I really don't expect to be taking the back off my phone and putting a new battery in on a regular basis.

Anyhow my gripe over - I'm not the only person who feels like this. Nokia could easily have a slightly thicker better technology 4000mah option.

I found a 1350mah with deeper battery cover, may look at that. Greg.

Agreed that a bigger battery/back option would be a good idea. Nokia have done it before on a phone if I remember correctly.

There is a US version of the N95 coming out soon with a bigger battery and case - I don't know if they'll be interchangeable onto the regular N95.
