Vodafone E90 issues?

Sorry if this is being discussed elsewhere, but can someone clarify what these "issues" are that even vodafone staff are admitting to? I m new to symbian and am taking cautious steps towards taking a leap with the E90....although my wife's orange contract is due for an upgrade and the N95 is on offer for free😊 ...ahem..yea, I was saying...what is it that the new awaited batch are meant to rectify? Also are the red and mocha colours interchangeable(covers?)

Not sure what issues your talking about?

Ive used the GPRS, 3g, and 3.5g (hdspa), and cant see any trouble with them?

thanks for replying....like i said, i am new, but the vodafone guys(in edinburgh) said the e90 was "sent back to tweak software issues" and they were waiting for a "new batch". so i was hoping people here were aware of any.....
😮

I would like to propose that another reason for the E90's so called problems, could be that the E90 was not manufactured in enough quanitiies initially, and this is why shops, including online stores, seem to offer the handsets with up to a ten day waiting period (voda and P4U included). stocks are limited but they are slowly rolling out more and more units.

It is better for a major network to say that they have had technical issues with handsets, thus it then becomes nokias fault and not theirs, rather than admit that they have simply run out.

food for thought!

I spoke with Vodafone and they said there was a manufacturing quality issue with the microphones.

yep, thats voda for you.

there are a few issues with the current release of the E90(-1), most of which are software issues. (for example, backlight turning off whilst typing using internal screen and keyboard.)

my E90 arrived from voda 3 days ago (sat). its fine hardware wise, but unfortunately locked to voda. there will be a fw update soon (possibly mid/end oct)

have had no probs at all with mic etc. speakers are v. loud and clear.

cant say ive ever noticed this bug!

although my case is creaking a little now...

im running v 07.24.0.3 , 12-06-2007 , ra-6, nokia e90 01

I came across a similar situation with Vodafone when I was looking around to upgrade from my 9210 to the 9500.

There certainly is the (possibly)cynical viewpoint that Vodafone have cocked-up their ordering, and Nokia have simply put them at the end of the queue for further supplies.

At the time when I was researching the 9500, it was pretty general that there were a load of bugs in the first 9500s, so I took the attitude that Vodafone were doing the decent thing and instead of supplying problematic phones, they were waiting till Nokia got their act together and supplied sorted phones.

The situation with the E90/Vodafone certainly appears to have parallels with the 9500 scenario. From what I'm reading on forums, there do seem to be quite a number of problems with it!
