Boring Calendar Question

I know we're all into 5 megapixel cameras, podcasting, and barcode readers now, but it does piss me off when I find a shortcoming in basic PIM apps that my old Psion could have done in seconds.

The Beaconsfield farmers' market is held on the fourth Saturday of every month. A coconut to the first person who can tell me how to set this in the calendar of an N95 or, indeed, any modern smartphone. I've tried it in both the native calendar app and Papyrus and drawn a complete blank. Yes, I could set it in Outlook and then sync, but I don't use Outlook and don't see why I should have to.

You have to restort to the only other known workaround: Enter it manually 12 times for the whole year.

Other than that, you could use that as an opportunity to learn programming and create your own little utility to enter calendar appointments like this. Easiest language to learn and to get going with is Python for S60.

set a "meeting" for it, have the "start date" on the 4th saturday of the month of your choice then set "repeat" (after alarm) on 'monthly', then set the "end date" to the 4th saturday of the month of your choice.

this won't be accurate since every month is different but it's the closest thing i can think of without using 3rd party apps.

Papyrus will allow this sort of repeating entry, which then automatically shows up in the standard Nokia calendar.

I installed the Papyrus trial version to enter my shift pattern and it worked fine.

'fraid not. I have Papyrus and this particular pattern didn't work, despite the options being there in the menu. The developer admitted as much in reply to my enquiry and said it's the next thing on his list.

Hello everyone,
Repeating patterns by "Day" will be implemented in the next version of Papyrus (1.3.01) - so the wait won't be long 😊

Do you have a gmail account? You could set it in google calendar (which you get as part of a gmail account) and then sync your phone using GooSync (free). Even if you don't use google calendar for anything else, I find it useful to have a sync copy of my calendar available on any internet connected PC.

How about that coconut?
