does anybody know where the theme files are kept on the phone mem and on the card, theres a modd i want to try which works very well on series 2 devices changing the icon sets around. cant find a skin folder anywhere.

You can't access them in phone memory at all.
On the memory card you find them somewhere under the hidden directory (or folder, if you prefer to call it that) \private (but only from a PC when the phone is connected in USB mass storage mode, or by using a separate USB memory card reader).
